a long time waiting

After waiting 6 months and paying MSRP we now have decided that it was worth the wait. There were times the MDX or the X5 almost won us over but we now have a car as luxurious and certainly for now not as common. The children love all the extra room.

impressed with fit and finish . I am not really into sound systems but truely and excellent sound system ( no tape just cd ). Lag of turbo takes alittle getting use to and view outside (sideview) not great .Very solid ride especially in the rain and very easy to fold and adjust seats. Climate controls alittle awkward but work well. Needs more center storage in front ( very good storage in back ) compared to acura mdx, i am sure the engine in the acura is better but the material inside the acura are cheesey and overall the folddown split rear seat is much nicer. Acura dealer in this area was rude to say the least.

Looks Good, Guzzles Gas

I've had the XC90 since 4/1/03 and have gotten the most heinous gas mileage -- 10/11mpg City and 15/16 Hwy. The interior is very noisy but the excellent stereo mitigates it. I've had the car back to the dealer three times in three months with various problems. The interior is mediocre/bland/sparse and back seat room tight. Lots of other little annoyances prove that looks aren't everything.

We just purchased our XC90 3 weeks ago after having considered the Acura MDX and the BMW X5. In the past, although we favored the safety features Volvo cars come equipped with, we have not been so impressed with the look/design of the former Volvo models, until the xc90, that is...On top of the classy, clean exterior and simplistic but elegant interior, the XC90 handsdown, out-weigh the competion with the 1st in class safety features. Having owned BMWs and Mercedes before, we are now converted Volvo fans since we got the XC90.

I've had my AWD 2.5T with prem, clim, and vers packages for 3wks now. It drives great, and the mileage has been good (about 20mpg overall). I like the split tailgate and that the third row seats fold flat. The handling in curves is amazing. My only major gripe is the poor visibility. The small rear window and wide A,B,C, and D pillars make seeing what's around you very difficult. With both third row seats up, the head rests hinder visibility even further. Annoying small stuff for a 40k vehicle: The 2.5T is a little underpowered when it comes to accelerating from a stop. Roof rack crossbars aren't standard.

The all-new Volvo XC90 is a combination of a station wagon, SUV, and a sedan. The price is O.K with the options included. The engine makes some noise but is barable. Even though it claims to be all-wheel drive, it uses different types of devices to control the wheels which helps the fuel economy and improves the safety of the car. I give this car an 8.5/10.

After 6 long months of waiting, we finally got our XC-90(2004 Model). Overall, it's all the car we expected it to be and then some. The leather seats are extremely comfortable and provide adequate lumbar and under the knee support. The XC-90 handles more like a sports sedan than an SUV and takes the bumps well. Lots of safety features. Awesome vehicle. Having said all that, the XC-90 does have some minor drawbacks. First off, our Volvo dealer wasn't willing to budge on the sticker price, period. What you see is what you get. First time we've ever had to pay sticker on a car. Bottom line is....get one if you can.

Wanted a 3rd row but owned the Tahoe which was a little too large. Great interior, easy to use third row. Love the car.
