Re: Why don't they sell more XC70s? [slance66]
The new XC70's may not be selling as well as expected but to blame it on fractional (e.g, less than an inch) differences in leg room doesn't make much sense. Rather we can look to a world wide recession that has hit the Volvo demographic fairly hard. (What the Volvo demographic? Probably college educated couples in their mid 30's to 50's working in white collar jobs ... Read More...
Re: Why don't they sell more XC70s? [kyfdx]
>My take on it? Women hate station wagons, and love SUVs.. If it rides up high like a truck, you can sell almost any piece of crap... but, if it rides a little lower and looks like a wagon, you can't give it away.. big seller. The new one isn't selling b/c (1) quality issues and (2) stupid design. By stupid design, I don't mean the style, which is very nice...a nice update. ... Read More...
Puzzled?!?!
Is it really possible that nobody has purchased a 2008 or 2009 XC70 since 09/30/08? If so, what aren't the dealers willing to deal? I have talked with several dealers in Central Illinois and Eastern Iowa and this is all I am coming up with... $10000 off a 2008 (sticker:44,960) and $9000 trade for my '04 XC70 with 51,000 miles. $25,473 OTD with tax, etc. Been on the ... Why don't they sell more XC70s?
In a post above I commented how happy we are with my wife' new 2009 XC70. I may have not been effusive enough. We really like the car and she is enjoying it immensely. Great ride, great seats, nice new features over the older versions, and on and on. Which leads me to a question. I'm puzzled why the XC70 doesn't sell better. What is the competition? Below it we have Suburu ... Read More...
Re: 2009 Volvo XC70 -- two-year lease? [jaa37jaa37]
If I were you I would not even consider to get a Volvo, read my postings from before the 2008 XC70 is just a pool of problems, I get something new every other week and of course Volvo US or the dealership could care less. I imagine their sales are down so badly due to quality and reliability issues that they have to put the 5 year Complimentary Maintenance Program but ... Read More...
Re: 2009 Volvo XC70 -- two-year lease? [jaa37jaa37]
Hello jaa37jaa37. I don't believe that Volvo is currently providing any lease support on the 2009 XC70 through Volvo Finance. If you really want to lease one, you would be better off doing so through an independent bank than through Volvo Finance. Volvo is currently providing a $1,750 cash incentive on leases of XC70 3.2s through independent banks. Car_man ... Read More...
2009 Volvo XC70 -- two-year lease?
Hi Car_man (and others) -- anyone know what the money factor and residual, etc., would be for a two-year, 12,000-a-year lease would be on XC70s? Any cash back deals? We have a 2007 lease that is ending soon, and we're trying to decide whether to extend the lease for a few months, get a new lease or try a different model. Anyone have any advice on extending a lease? Read More...

2008 XC70 Price Paid
Bought a new 2008 (left over) XC70 on 4/09 in Southern Cali, list price $48,100. Loaded with options, similar new 2009 lists for $4,000.00 less. Paid 33,200. I have always leased my cars (usually BMW's for @ 15 years) but this deal seemed to good to be true. We love the car and have a total of 200 miles and one warranty service already. Maybe this is a result of being ... Read More...
Re: 2009 XC70 [dpeck1]
I sure do, dpeck1. Unfortunately, Volvo is not currently providing any lease support on the 2009 XC70. You definitely don't want to lease one through Volvo Finance right now, its lease money factors are around .00500, which is equivalent to an interest rate of around 12% . You can lease one through an independent bank and take advantage of the $5,500 dealer cash ... Read More...
Re: 2009 XC70 [Car_man]
Hi dpeck1, even if Volvo is giving a cash incentive of $2000, I would not get the car, they are depreciating the resale value more and more so the used cars are going to be worthless like most of the american brands. As much as you discount a car as worthless it is. If I were you I would be looking at Acura, Infiniti, Lexus, or BMW. You can get great deals in terms of financing ... Read More...
