We purchased this car hoping to get well into 6 figures on the mileage.
Well within 2000 miles of the warranty expiring i am incurring $8000 in repairs.
Failed water pump and timing belt and then the transmission failed.
Volvo and dealership seem to care less.
I get it that i am outside the warranty, but come on Volvo! 2000 miles?
As for the timing belt, my Volvo mechanic recommended that this critical part be replaced at 100,000. I did it and have not had any problems. My xc70 now has 149,000 miles and is running strong. Your mileage may vary of course. Synthetic oil always every 5,000 and premium gas every tank. That's how you take care of a volvo. They're tanks (at least the still were in 2007; I have experience with the post-Chinese-ownership models).
