I'm sorry to be leaving the lease on this car. It's been fantastic, with nothing going wrong other than a turbo boost that was fixed under warranty, and I had never noticed it. This car is GREAT in the mountains, with the turbo at high altitude being a gem. The AWD could use the stability control, but I felt safe in this car. It's no sports car, but it's comfortable, quiet, and reliable. And I'm not a soccer mom!
Turbo, audio system (I had the premium audio package).
Satellite integration, iPod integration, stability control should be standard, the wind noise with a bike rack was unbearable, so I always took mine off when not in use.
My previous car was an Audi 200 quattro avant and on paper this car is very close. In reality it not even a contest. It does nothing as well as the almost 15 year older car. Big delay from start, bad handling, lighter modern brakes - yuk! The controls are cheap and all work backwards. And then there is the seat which always wants to move away from the last driver when you get in. They even blew the armrests. Blows light bulbs for some strange reason. Gas mileage OK though. Going back to a real european car and getting rid of this Ford!
For an all wheel drive wagon, the gas mileage is good - 23 mpg.
This car is very stealth; it performs way better than the image it projects. If you get into the turbo, it will leave most everyone else sitting at the stoplight. Very solid build quality so far (at 30k miles). Maintenance not too bad because the major ones covered under warranty, which they no longer do (cheaped out). Run synthetic oil most the time in it.
I probably would have bought it for the seats alone. volvo could do a good business selling them for use in family rooms! Love the turbo. Like the express down and express up on two front windows. Size is about ideal.
I'd like it all: better performance AND better gas mileage. How about a Volvo hybrid? I think it should have more luxury for the sticker price. Instead they put a 40k sticker on them and routinely discount them 6-8k. At 33k they are a good buy. At 40k, maybe no.
This is by far, the best car I've ever owned. Great performance, great utilization for a family of four and great style. My family is big in water sports - surf, kayak, etc - the Volvo XC70 is PERFECT.
GPS system and seats.
Extend the back leg room a couple of inches. It's a bit tight.
