To be a Navigation System for Volvo XC60, what is the basic functions and the bright spots of the Volvo XC60car GPS that we are going to discuss?
Hi folks, Several months ago, my 2004 XC70 started sounding a high pitched alarm-like sound, that could really only be heard when close to the car. We are currently on vacation and my wife heads home tonight from one of the local malls and, after locking the doors, the emergency lights are flashing. I tried leaving the doors unlocked, but after about a minute, the emergency lights start flashing. So, no ... Read More
I have experience with 3 volvos, two purchased new which I still have - 2006 xc70 and 2002 s60. I used to have a 2004 xc70 which I bought a year old. All were automatic trans. Overall I have been very pleased with them but the trans in all 3 had quirks: 2004 xc70 - car had a tendency to shift gears somewhat harshly, not a smooth transition. purchased used with ... This seems to be very similiar to my 2004 xc70. This only happens after 5-7 hours of highway driving, which is only 2-3 times a year. There is no indication anything is wrong and it does sort of feel like a thud, but is likely the engine momentarily stalling or the AWD system reponding to the electrical problem. The red triangle immediately appears with the messege that the left rear door ... Read More
Same problem here - does anyone have a solution? I have a 2004 XC70 wagon, 80,000 miles It has the same electrical problems described. The car will suddenly ‘buck' for a second as if it stalled or is trying to downshift. I'm pretty sure it is trying to shift. The inside lights will go on, and a ‘left door open' message will appear. Sometimes the dashboard lights and indicators will go ... Read More
Look at the Subaru Outback and Forester and compare with the XC70. There are some maintenance problems with the Volvo geartronic transmission and all-wheel-drive (AWD) and turbocharger systems. Be sure to compare Subarus with the same safety equipment as the XC70--full airbags and dynamic stability and traction control. I got a 2004 V70 base model 2.4L 168 hp gasoline non-turbo as a hand-me-down and it has performed perfectly. It is great ... Read More
I don't have an obvious solution, but I do have a few comments and suggestions. I'll first address the vibration. I have a GREAT mechanic who worked at a Volvo dealership for over 15 years and he knows his stuff. My car had the same problem (2004 model) and so did a friend's CX90. It is likely a wheel bearing...rear also likely. The bearings go prematurely and are expensive. I think ... Read More
I live in a very small rural area, the nearest Volvo service center is 4 hours away so the car is serviced locally. No one in town has the gadget that resets the service message...it always reads "Time for Regular Service". It's annoying because I can't access any of the other information. Does anyone know of a trick to override this setting? Thanks...Linda
I don't know if this post is too late to be of use to you but I wanted to comment on the 3rd seats in a volvo.... or any other wagon for that matter. I have had 4 volvos. I have had the misfortune to have 3 crash. The car holds up amazingly well for the passengers in the first and second seats. BUT... if you are hit from the back ... Read More
A little late to respond maybe but I am a college student and I have owned a 1998 V70XC for 4 years. It currently has close to 120k miles - I have all of the original service records from the previous owner and the only problems the car has ever had is the ABS control unit and the A/C blower fan. All the other repairs were minor and routine - maybe ... Read More
We are looking at 2 XC70's (2004) Both are offered by the same dealer. They have heated leather seats, moon roof, radio/CD, power seats and windows, Turbo, and other things. (no safety cargo net, or 3rd row seating) Mileage is around 52,000, they are one owner leases that were turned in. Dealer price is $15995.00. Similar cars in our area start at $19,995.00. I have a possibility of purchasing a 3rd ... Read More
I just bought a 2004 V70 Turbo. It accelrates well but corners really suck and I hate the manuel gear box, but heard the auto is worse, being mismatched to the power ratios. Its fully loaded in black leather with navi and rain sensitive wipers etc etc which is nice, will use it for what its for, hauling kids around but cant wait to get back to a proper car like ... Continued I loved the Caravan but sold it rather than trading in or selling the Spirit because the latter had the safety features I wanted. The 850 wagon was very cramped compared to the Caravan, but served its travelling function acceptably well, though not as good as a minivan. It 2004 it was totalled in a guardrail smack and 720 deg rollover on a tollway when my wife was the sole ... Read More
According to the specs the 08 V70/XC70 should not be underpowered compared to your 07 XC70 2.5T. The naturally aspirated 3.2L I6 has a higher max hp rating (235 hp vs 208 hp) and the same max torque rating (236 ft*lb at 3200 rpm vs. 236 ft*lb at 1500 rpm for the 2.5T, according to Edmunds). The fact that the 2.5T makes its torque at a much lower rpm (according to ... Read More
The difference in the mpg values between my 04 V70 and the 08 XC70 is not as great as I claimed above because EPA changed the calculation procedure for the mpg figures. 2004 FWD V70 168hp I5 5A New EPA MPG city/combined/hwy 19/22/28 Old EPA MPG city/combined/hwy: 22/25/30 The 08 XC70 uses 27% more fuel to go the same distance as the 04 V70 base model. The extra fuel goes into ... Read More
Ron, I would like to compare notes about our experiences with Toyota of Wilmington as soon as possible. FYI: Volvo warranty person at Parkway said the CPO does not transfer. Do a Google search for "benzidine lawsuits nc" for my info. I'll be in the office tomorrow. (My wife and I looked at that same 2006 V70 over at Parkway, ironically.) Tom
Hi Tom... I'm surprised the Toyota dealer gave you a price and let you escape without buying the car! To your first question, that looks like a damn good price, at least compared to the asking prices I saw on a lot of other Volvos in the Carolinas... even if the CPO warranty doesn't transfer. As for the warranty, that sounds like a question for Volvo corporate/warranty folks. If there's a ... Read More
I have no previous experience with Volvo cars, but am now interested in possibly purchasing a 2004 XC70 with 72,000 miles. This particular car is a Toyata dealership resale of a (said to be) Volvo Certified Vehicle. Two questions to all with any opinions: (1) Is $15,900 (down from original asking of $17,900) a good price for this vehicle, which seems to be in "good" condition per Kelly Blue Book definitions? ... Thanks mesguy. Sure looks like the pricing is attractive; guessing your monthly is higher than mine because you didn't do any cap cost reduction on the lease. I may consider an 07, but I think I want a change. Given the first year issues with Volvo (2001 XC70, 2004 V50), I think I'll shy away from the new XC70 but I'd rather not drive a car that's going to be outdated ... Read More
Hi Tenmiler, Interesting to see your lease from way back in 2004. As you can see from my #s posted above, you can get an even better deal on an XC right now. Volvo is offering Dealers over $9K to move the 2007 model, presumably to make room for the redesigned 2008. It's the end of the model year AND the end of this designs lifespan (10 years). So they want ... Read More
OK, here's the choice I'm facing. A 2002 BMW 325 xi with about 70K miles or a 2003 Volvo xc70 with nearly the same mileage. Which is safer? Which is going to last the longest with the fewest repairs? I have a 2004 X3 and love it. But, right now my husband drives a Toyota Matrix and I just don't think it's safe for the kids riding in the back. Or ... Read More
Finally getting rid of our 2001 Saab 9-5SE and contemplating a second XC70. Already own a 2004 base model - 58,000 flawless miles, rock-solid in snow and inclement weather - it's been a terrific ownership experience. Can anyone offer insight on what 'out the door' prices are for '07 XC70's (premium/convenience/climate/bluetooth)purchased in ME/NH/North of Boston? Are there any Volvo factory rebates at the moment? Many thanks!
I have a 2004 S80 T6 with 35,000 miles and I too have had the exact same problem with my vehicle. I was driving in the early morning about 2 hours into my drive at 55 mph, and I heard a thud. Then the message center reported my left rear door was open, and when I tried to lock the doors, the locks repeatedly bounced. After driving a few more minutes, ... Read More
I lived in Germany 3 yrs and drove my 2004 XC70 all over on the autobahns in GE and other countries. At 100mph, I would get about 15mpg. At 80mph, I would get about 17mpg instantaneous on the flat, even loaded down with gear and people. The gas I used over there was 98 octane (super). Now back in the US, I've been experimenting with octane ratings and MPG. On roadtrips ... Read More
We have the same problem and volvo is saying all sorts of repairs that will cost about $1500. Was wondering if they figured out your problem. Thanks
I have a 2004 XC70 with 30,000 miles on it. When I start the car it idles rough. When I pull up to a stop light the engine idles rough and the check engine light comes on and sometimes blinks. The car runs better after it has been warmed up, however the light stays on. It has been back to the dealer three times. They have changed the ignition coil, spark ... Read More
We're looking at a 2004 XC70 AWD 2.5T, fully loaded, 21K miles from a non-Volvo dealer in Columbus, OH. The car appears to be in immaculate shape and is pending an independent inspection. They are asking $27,990. Does anyone think this is isn't a good deal? We think it is, but we don't have the certified preowned 6y/100K warranty. We are also looking at some service loaners and low mileage used ... Read More
I own both...the XC70 is a nice car, but no comparison...but no comparison in price either...unless you buy used....I got my 2001 allroad in October 2004, $25000, 48,000 miles, certiffid, warranty to 100000. Volvo bought new 2002, $32000. 18000 miles later, not a single problem with the allroad...Volvo has had very minor glitches, at 70,000 miles. allroad is faster, quieter, handles better, is practical, has fantastic Bose sound, tons of features....heated ... A car based SUV like the XC70 should be better at resisting rollover, and the structure of the XC70 is probably better at protecting the occupants than the Jeep, and will come standard with side impact and head curtain airbags. I believe it will get better fuel economy. Presumably the XC70 will cost quite a bit more A big factor would be if you can get the XC70 with dynamic stability ... Read More
I have a 2004 XC70 with 34,000 miles and an intermittent knocking sound in the drivetrain. After driving the car for about a thousand miles with this noise, a vibration has also developed. The Volvo dealer's mechanics say there's nothing wrong with the car. Today, an independent mechanic took it for a 2 minute test drive, and diagnosed it as having either a bad U-Joint or a bearing going bad in ... Read More
I have a 2004 volvo wagon XC70 and have never gotten better than 17 miles to the gallon. When I called SMart Motors here in Madison, Wisconsin they suggested that I use a different gas station. Since I go to a different one every time, and use only premium gas, that was not very helpful. I would not buy this car again. :(
Congratulations! Be sure to share your ownership experience in the Volvo V70 / XC70 forum.. regards, kyfdx Host-Prices Paid Forums
If you are looking for a reasonable value on this car, you might try posting here: Real-World Trade-In Values Or, you could try calculating the value yourself: 2004 Volvo XC70 regards, kyfdx Host-Prices Paid Forums
Locally in my area, there are some 2004 XC70's with an Internet Price of $30,295. The price started at $34,995, and they keep lowering it. You could print one of these deals out and give it to your dealer as a bargaining tool. Look at www.volvovillage.com. This is in Clearwater Florida. The XC70 isn't very "hot" down here, so your dealer may bring that up.
From my observation, cars, used or new, in east coast tend to be more expensive than in Calif, where I moved from. About a month ago, I talked to a lady who finally sold her 04 XC70 with almost all options except Xenon for $27k at mileage 20k. At that time, there was another seller for a similar car asking for $29k but only 5k miles. I know dealers charge ... Read More
This message is a huge Thank You to all who posted pricing information on the 2004 XC70. Armed with the prices you’ve recently paid for this vehicle, and the negotiation tactics I learned from The Motley Fool (fool.com), I just paid $32,350 plus tax, title, etc. for a Nautic Blue (metallic) model with Premium and Touring packages and integrated booster seat (MSRP was $39,690/Invoice was $37,049). (Incidentally, our best offer on ... Read More
