2010 Volvo XC60 Road Test Ratings

A capable, compact premium SUV that handles well and steals looks. Quicker than many in the segment, with power delivery which suits it perfectly. Good balance and relatively nimble for a small SUV.

Superbly appropriate power delivery for a vehicle in this segment. The turbo inline-6 gushes torque which is efficiently distributed by the six-speed transmission and Haldex variable torque split all-wheel drive. Terrific road manners. Impressively high handling limits.

With a distinctly sporty ride, the XC60 might be too busy for some buyers, but being competitive in this segment's group of solid-handling machines usually means having a sporty ride. Little wind or road noise. Large rear seat will accommodate tall passengers.

Average HVAC and audio layouts operate with medium ease. Superb dual xenon adaptive headlamps are valuable feature. Clear IP layout is easy to read. Highly funcitonal dual split folding rear seats add utility.

Striking exterior design sets the XC60 apart from other small SUVs. Interior is a mix of high-quality materials and some which aren't up to the segment's standards. Overall assembly quality is high, however.
