Review

I got a T6 model with comfort, climate and technology package and we love it. Before the purchase, my wife and I thoroughly researched and test drove other competitors. At the end, my we narrowed our choice down to RX, Q5 and XC60. We liked Q5 the best in terms of driving dynamic, followed by XC60 and dreadful RX, but Volvo won us over in interior/exterior design, utility and value. RX had great interior, technology features and excellent fit and finish, but totally uninspired exterior design and driving characteristics. Our biggest concern for getting a Volvo was reliability issue, but we got convinced by Volvo's safe and sound program that provides 5 years of warranty and free maintenance.

Favorite Features

all the safety features, BLISS!!, automatic rear lift gate, Swedish design,

Suggested Improvements

Better fit and finish, Bluetooth needs improvement (No issue with connection, but sound quality was poor in both ends), Outdated navigation (we decided not to get it after our salesman demoed it)

Review

AThis car replaced a 2004 V70 2.5T. The XC60 has about the same interior space as my V70 with easier step in height and better ground clearance. The ride is smooth with less NVH than the V70 and the transmission shifts without hesitation. However, acceleration is a little sluggish compared to the 2.5T engine and fuel economy is significantly worse at 22-24 on the highway. Front seats are extremely comfortable but the back seat is cramped. Fit and finish is very good with no squeaks or rattles. Rear visibility is quite good and the headlights are strong. My car is equipped with BLIS which works reasonably well. Overall, My XC60 is a very comfortable, all weather car with mediocre fuel economy.

Favorite Features

Comfort of the front seats; smooth ride; good visibility; AWD; large cargo area for my dogs; easy step in height; attractive styling and excellent fit and finish. Volvo also offers free maintenance for 5 years/60000 miles.

Suggested Improvements

Fuel economy is mediocre even with extensive highway driving. The 3.2 engine is smooth but sluggish. A more fuel efficient engine would make this car perfect for me.

My wife and I did extensive research and test drives. Lexus, BMW, Audi and Volvo XC60 and XC90. The Audi was the best driving, but the Volvo won in every other category. The features, ownership cost, performance and overall experience the Volvo XC60 won hands down. We were very impressed with the interior layout and the heated rear seats were a nice feature. We didn't notice very much difference in performance between the 3.2L and the 3.0L Turbo, so we opted for the 3.2L The Gas mileage to date is averaging 21 mpg, and that is with a about a 70% city and 30% highway driving. We are going on our 3rd week of ownership, and so far no issues.

Favorite Features

Heated seats (both front and back), parking assist & bluetooth & ipod playing features.

Suggested Improvements

Diesel option. I know that European XC60 models are available in Diesel. It would be nice to be able to explore that option.

Review

My wife and I have had this vehicle for about a month now, and we have been thoroughly satisfied. I have been a VW fanatic since birth, and this is my first car (I bought a Ford Truck about 4 years ago) purchase outside of VW in my life. I was immediately impressed with the handling of the car for such a large vehicle. Additionally, we have been impressed with the sheer volume of the vehicle as we moved up from a VW Jetta. I am also very impressed with the maintenance plan of 60000 miles. Overall this is perhaps one of the best purchases I've ever made. I would highly recommend it, its at least worth a look.

Favorite Features

The coolest feature is without a doubt the Sirius Satelite Radio. I also enjoy the push button start, and the great amount of space in the rear.

Suggested Improvements

I definitely have to say that the controls could be a little less complicated to use. But overall, this is a great vehicle.

Try parallel parking at night when there is no outdoor lighting and it might change your mind about your purchase of this model without buying the Bliss feature. Tinted and extra small rear windows make it hard to see at night. Volvo does not make an adequate dog gate for this model and the one you may have from your wagon will not fit.

Favorite Features

Car is very comfortable and smooth driving.

Suggested Improvements

The tinted rear view mirror is a real problem when backing into a parallel parking space when there is no outdoor lighting. It is almost impossible to see anything so BLISS is a must. There is a large blind spot behind the oversized side mirrors. Rear cargo area much smaller than previous wagon.

I purchased the XC60 to replace a 2002 Volvo S60. It took me no time to get used to a crossover. I get a lot of compliments on its unique looks and the build quality seems very high end . The attention to detail is excellent - e.g. double stitched leather. Overall I am very happy with the XC60.

Favorite Features

Beautiful lines, taillights, panoramic roof, and strong pick-up.

Suggested Improvements

It should have a CD changer rather than a single CD. The rear view mirror is very dark and hard to use in a garage (possibly due to the tinted glass in the back).

My wife and I bought this car last week and we love it. It handles like a dream and so far the mileage is greater then we expected. 23.5 as of this morning. We are both over 6 feet tall, I'm 6'4" and she is 6'2" and fit very comfortably. However, the back seat isn't going to much use unless you are under about 5'5". There is a ton of cargo room and the car is almost as fun to drive as our mini cooper. When on cruise control, this car climbs like a mountain goat. There is no hesitation or effort put forth by the engine and the turbo WILL put you back in your seat.

Favorite Features

Lots of toys. We love the bluetooth, back up camera and the city safe.

Suggested Improvements

One of the menu options is you can see your speed in KPH digitally. however, you can't see speed in MPH unless you are in cruise control. We had to leave the state in order to get the color we wanted. More availability.

Have driven for a week. Overall happy with the purchase. 32,900 w/ metallic paint and premium package/sunroof. Smooth ride, quiet. Could use a few more hps as tranny has to shift often. Design is nice. Interior is luxurious though there are a few shortcuts (cheap plastic interior door pull)

Favorite Features

Standard bluetooth. Exterior Looks. Great Cargo room. Good handling. Center display. Excellent standard sound system. Safety features (low insurance premium).

Suggested Improvements

Include clock on center display?!(only in dash). Darker colored steering wheel and shifter with sandstone interior (gets dirty quickly).

Review

We just returned from picking up our XC60 at the factory. What a wonderful experience. We were treated royally and toured the factory. We then took the Volvo and drove in Scandinavia. We drove super-highways, cities, narrow mountain roads, rough roads and smooth ones. The XC60 performed superbly! The safety systems are wonderful. The handling on winding roads is stable and comfortable. The car is quiet and responsive. We drove in snow flurries without any problem. Of course, at nearly $10 per gallon for gasoline a bit more economy would be nice. We anxiously await the stateside delivery.

Favorite Features

Adaptive Cruise Control is wonderful, the system slows, brakes or accelerates as necessary to maintain a constant 2 - 3 second interval between your car and the one ahead. Memory seats are great. Keyless ignition works well.

Suggested Improvements

I-phone interface could be more seamless. Our I-phone dumped the entire I-Tunes file the second time we used it.

Review

Have had my T6 XC60 for a month now and absolutely love it. Traded up from a T5 XC70 and it is night and day different in terms of comfort, performance, gadgets and head turn. Even my wife loves it and she's pretty neutral about cars. The XC60 is more roomy for front and rear seat passengers, has a much more comfortable ride, and the T6 is a lot of fun. Even the handling is good for a "crossover" vehicle. Not top heavy and mushy like some other higher ends we drove. Knock wood, none of the initial build quality issues noted here (yet) in fact, no issues at all to date. We are very excited about it and love out new XC60.

Favorite Features

Personal car communicator is a neat option. I didn't set out to buy but it was already installed on the XC60 I ended up buying. Very convenient. Also love the BLIS. Favorite feature is the power rear gate that comes with the convenience package. Also very convenient with groceries, etc.

Suggested Improvements

Obviously, I wish the gas mileage was a bit better. Running about 19 on regular unleaded. Hoping to see the improvement to 21 others have commented on. But it is regular unleaded vs. the premium for the XC70. That makes a big difference mentally if not financially.
