That 2001 V70 AWD is STILL available at this time. I did pay a visit yesterday to the business here in my hometown and speak with the owner and I could sense how much pride he has in his business. He has 2 salespeople there who do NOT work on commission. He took me out on the lot and showed me what he has to offer. He has about 5 V70's, ... Read More
We've had Volvo's in our family for the last 15 years - starting with an old 244, then an 850 and now we drive a 2001 V70 (135,000 miles on it and going strong) and my wife has a 2008 XC90. My V70 is getting on a bit, although I will probably keep it until something major happens to it, and I like the look of new V60 wagon. However I ... Read More
Actually, the final date for ordering a 2010 V70 from the factory equipped as you would like to have it is April 15th. I just ordered one equipped pretty much loaded, with Metallic, Premium, Climate, Multimedia (incl Nav), Technology, BLIS, PCC, & Xenon. What can I say -- I like gadgets. There are very few V70s on dealer lots; most dealers have one or at most two, and most of the ... Read More
I just bought a 2008 Volvo V70, and would like to add Sirius Radio. My question is all the V70 radio Sirius ready? Thanks

Any thoughts on this deal in socal for 2008 V70 w/ premium and convenience packages? I'm a Volvo owner currently. 36 mo / 12k lease msrp $39,220 cap $29,800 residual 39% ($15,295) $2,250 drive off $440/mo I'm not sure what the money factor is.
Hello wannamak. Volvo Finance's lease program for this model varies by term and mileage allowance. You never mentioned what either of these variables are, so for now I will assume that you are interested in a 36 month lease with 15,000 miles per year. Let me know if you want something different. Volvo Finance's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2009 ... Read More
I'm sorry I can't help with residuals or money factor. Volvo is a great car, however there are no bargins in leasing them. In fact , they have just about the worst lease deals of any car manufacturer I can think of. You can reread some of my experiences in past forums and I now own another brand station wagon. If you do lease one do not go over the milage. ... Read More
If I understand you correctly, each and every time you start the car, the PS is inactive unless you start it, shut it off and then restart it? And the dealer has not been able to correct this? That would be a completely unacceptable condition to me, and I think I am reasonable and have no axe to grind about Volvo. Does the 2008 XC70 have electric PS? Suppose you switch ... Read More
Just got back from 2 weeks in England with my wife and 2 boys. We put about 1000 miles on a rented 2008 V70 2.4 D and found it to be a fine ride. It was a base rental model, with full pleather upholstery, which actually turned out to be very comfortable. The whole experience was comfortable in fact - the seats were good, the driving position, the ride. I didn't ... Read More
I am new to this forum but I have 2 Volvo's. A 1994 850Glt with 230,000 and a 2002 V70 with 93,000 m. My experience is NEVER take it to the dealer. The dealer is not your friend. Also, NEVER buy a new one. Aside from that, I run the cheapest M/S tires I can find on the 850. I run Kelly M/S on the V70. They are one notch up ... Read More
Hi Bill165, I just wanted you to know, you are not crazy. I too live on Long Island and have had exactly the same experience. Not only at Riverhead, but every other Volvo dealership as well. I currently lease a 2006 v70. I actually have a manual 5 speed ! The car has been excellent . I get great gas milage (because of the manual transmission and 5 cylinders) and your ... Read More
No doubt your Attorney General and the NHTSA will get right on the case against Volvo - that is, as soon as they're done throwing the book at Nissan, Lexus, Chrysler, Ford, Volkswagon, Mazda, Saab, Hyundai, Jeep, BMW, Audi, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Subaru, Chevrolet, and Mitsubishi. fedlawman, "Volvo V70 Transmission Problems" #66, 13 Jan 2008 11:31 pm Whatever the outcome, I sincerely hope it works out for you and the others who ... Hey qbrozen. Volvo Finance's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 24 month lease of a 2008 Volvo V70 with 15,000 miles per year are .00103 and 60%, respectively. The numbers for an otherwise identical 36 month lease are .00112 and 47%. Its 12,000 mile per year residual values would be 2% higher and its 10k resids would be 3% higher. Volvo is currently providing a $500 ... Read More

These mpg values are mpgUK which are to be divided by 1.2 to get mpgUS. Alternatively, divide the fuel consumption in metric units (L/100 km) value into 235 to get mpgUS. I wish Volvo would offer some of these more fuel efficient engines in the US. The 2.0L 4-cyl ... Read More
According to the specs the 08 V70/XC70 should not be underpowered compared to your 07 XC70 2.5T. The naturally aspirated 3.2L I6 has a higher max hp rating (235 hp vs 208 hp) and the same max torque rating (236 ft*lb at 3200 rpm vs. 236 ft*lb at 1500 rpm for the 2.5T, according to Edmunds). The fact that the 2.5T makes its torque at a much lower rpm (according to ... Read More
The difference in the mpg values between my 04 V70 and the 08 XC70 is not as great as I claimed above because EPA changed the calculation procedure for the mpg figures. 2004 FWD V70 168hp I5 5A New EPA MPG city/combined/hwy 19/22/28 Old EPA MPG city/combined/hwy: 22/25/30 The 08 XC70 uses 27% more fuel to go the same distance as the 04 V70 base model. I suppose this is powered by the naturally aspirated 3.2L inline-6, rated at 235 hp. This ought to be plenty powerful, but you'd expect it to be fairly fuel efficient. In short--a competent, practical premium 4WD wagon. But the Edmunds site gives this data. This fuel use is disappointing to me. My 2004 V70 (base 168hp NA I5 5A) was rated at 22/30 mpg city/hwy. I get that and more on ... Read More

Discuss the new 2008 Volvo XC70/V70 here.
What does buying another new Volvo and a second marriage have in common? The triump of hope over experience. With the new 2008 Model Year changes, the new V70/XC70 looks attractive. Wouldn't it be slick to pick up a new one to replace our '01 and ride the new one out for the full model cycle as we did the '01? We had our XC70 now for the full run of ... Read More
I think that the V70 needs more power (apparently a six is coming in 08) and much less front wheel drive bias. You drive an '01 XC don't you? The "front wheel drive bias" talk tipped me off, and I saw some of your other posts. You've got a bit less power than I do, and 200-300 pounds more vehicle, so no wonder you're wanting more power. The V70 2.5T doesn't ... Read More
The rear facing third row in the V70 is in the rear crush zone. Is this the arrangement in the 2008 XC70? If so, I'm not surprised that Volvo would phase out this option.
I emailed Volvo and asked about the availability of a third row seat in the 2008 XC70 that they are now previewing on their webpage. They responded by reporting that " The preliminary information is that the auxiliary rear facing seat will not be available for the 2008 V70 or XC70 wagons." Presumably, they are trying to push people into XC90s. They might push people to Subaru.
Just to share a bit about my experience with Volvo. I purchased a new 2001 V70 2.4T from a dealer in New England and had it shipped out to Seattle (I wanted cloth and that seemed to be the only one - btw, my cloth interior looks like it just came out of the showroom - so unlike the leather I am seeing on aging V70s). Anyway, as much as I ... Read More
