Dear fedlawman, Most of the transmission problems associated with the V70 have been reported on earlier models than yours. As someone who is currently in the middle of this battle, I would like to assure you that these concerns are real. I have read literally thousands of complaints that are eerily similar to mine. I have a 2001 V70 Cross Country and have spent almost $10,000 with no real result. My ... Read More

Hi Bill165, I just wanted you to know, you are not crazy. I too live on Long Island and have had exactly the same experience. Not only at Riverhead, but every other Volvo dealership as well. I currently lease a 2006 v70. I actually have a manual 5 speed ! The car has been excellent . I get great gas milage (because of the manual transmission and 5 cylinders) and your ... Read More

  • 2006 Volvo V70 2.5T suspension noise

Written by: cgretired on Jan 14, 2008 3:48:18 AM

I have a 2006 Volvo V70 2.5T with just over 28200 miles. For the past few months, I've had a suspension noise coming from the right rear of the car. It sounds like a bushing squeek, well, louder than a squeek, but it is obvious. The dealer had it twice for this, the first one didn't hear the noise and sort of blew it off. The second dealer (two different dealers) ... Read More

Ron, I would like to compare notes about our experiences with Toyota of Wilmington as soon as possible. FYI: Volvo warranty person at Parkway said the CPO does not transfer. Do a Google search for "benzidine lawsuits nc" for my info. I'll be in the office tomorrow. (My wife and I looked at that same 2006 V70 over at Parkway, ironically.) Tom

Nowhere near the greatest price on earth, working with a small dealer in a strong market for Volvos (eastern NC)... picking up a 2006 V70 2.5T with premium and climate packages... retired demo (never titled so "new") with 11000 miles... $28642 plus 379 doc plus TTL I'm sure I could have done better but not within at least 100-200 miles of here! Just to share a bit about my experience with Volvo. I purchased a new 2001 V70 2.4T from a dealer in New England and had it shipped out to Seattle (I wanted cloth and that seemed to be the only one - btw, my cloth interior looks like it just came out of the showroom - so unlike the leather I am seeing on aging V70s). Anyway, as much as I ... Read More

We picked up a 2006 V70 about three months ago. And like twobigdogz is was untitled but only had 600 miles on it. It now has 3800 miles on it. In the last three months it has been in for service 4 times (soon to be a fifth time as soon as Volvo will come and remove it from our driveway) and towed once (soon to be twice). My Pirelli tires were seeming hard as rocks with balancing and roundness issues from the first few miles to about 8,000 miles when I realized they were very poor in snow. I put on the ER 960's about 750 mile ago and I am finding them fantastic for this car. Quieter, round er, better in rain, slush and snow. The 4c active suspension feels like I can use all the settings ... Read More

I just purchased a 2006 V70 2.4 with the satellite radio prep. Does anyone know if the sirius receiver is a DIY installation? I thought that I read somewhere that the volvo head unit needs to be reprogrammed to recognize the satellite radio. Also, does the sirius radio accessory package include an antenna? Does it need to be wired? I would prefer to go with XM, if it would integrate with ... Read More

Fortunately, the car had enough momentum so I could pull over onto the shoulder. I was then stuck in a car that would not start up at all in over 100F weather with my 2 kids in the car ... Read More

We're looking at a 2004 XC70 AWD 2.5T, fully loaded, 21K miles from a non-Volvo dealer in Columbus, OH. The car appears to be in immaculate shape and is pending an independent inspection. They are asking $27,990. Does anyone think this is isn't a good deal? We think it is, but we don't have the certified preowned 6y/100K warranty. We live in NC and don't really need the AWD of the XC70 but we like the sportier look. The current Volvo dealer incentives would make the XC70 the better buy because the incentives are higher ... Citing cost is honest and realistic. Although I would call it a hard-nosed, calculated marketing decision. Is Volvo currently making or losing money? Since it is owned by Ford, does Volvo have a separate public balance sheet? I'm glad to hear it will be standard on the 2007 V70. Will some superefficient new engines be available? Although the EPA highway on our 2004 2.4L NA was 30 mpg and we get ... Read More

I'm trying to figure out if there are significant drawbacks to using regular gasoline with the 2006 Volvo 2.4 I5 engines (non turbo). My understanding is that the turbos do require premium. Correct? Currently have an 04' S60 2.4 that we fill up with regular and it seems to be doing ok. The S60/V70/S80 all share the P2 chassis. According to Volvo, the S60 was concieved first but management wanted a replacement for the aging 960/S90 cars. The 850 had just been refreshed to the S70 so the S60 proj was shelved and the S80 went forward. The S60 arrived 2 years later, and would have arrived sooner if not for the teething pains suffered by the S80. So, if a new S80 ... Read More
