You have a leak in the "heater core". This must be attended to ASAP. Occupants of the vehicle are breathing volatilized antifreeze (active ingredient ethylene glycol) which is toxic. We are also deciding between a v70, and xc70 or a vw 3.6 4motion. I was wondering if you guys purchased a car yet and if so, what was your decision and how did you arrive at it? I suppose I'm a little late in adding my two cents. I have a '99 V70XC that's had a ton of problems (see my previous posts) and a 2004 Sienna XLE that's performed nearly flawlessly (as I expected). We find the XC to be pretty tight for longer trips but we compensated by adding a cargo box which works well -- we have a 5 yr old and a 3 yr old. We have the 3rd row seat but have only ... Most expensive car to have service done on. 1999-2002 have lawsuits against them regarding the throttle. I would never buy another Volvo again, but I certainly wouldn't buy one that was past warranty. I've put 9,000.00 into my Volvo in the last six months. The car is four !/2 years old. On March 20 , '05 - the headlights on my '99 Volvo V70 shut off while rounding a curve on a dark [moonless] night. I hit a bridge abutment, the car rolled over several times and was totaled. Recently I've looked at a 2000 V70XC with automatic transmission. I was surprised to learn that after 42,000 miles the car had had a new engine, turbo, and oil pump installed. Since that time it has only been driven 100 miles, and the owner is trying to sell it. The owner told me the original oil pump was defective (It didn't pump oil to one of the cylinders.). Since ...
