Has anyone experienced this issue? I just purchased a 2008 S80 with 28,000 from a Volvo dealership. Drove it today after a week of travel and noticed its slow off a start - delayed response when the throttle is depressed. Mind you this is not a cold start, but getting off the block at a red light or intersection. Is this a mechanical or software issue. I need some information from ... Read More
I'm at my last month of a 2 year lease 2008 S80. Not a single problem. Ironically I'm looking into leasing a BMW 528i. What year was you BMW that you had the problems with?
Hi carfan22. Volvo Finance was running a special lease program on the 2008 S80 in October, but only in certain parts of the U.S., specifically the Southern and Western parts. In those areas, Volvo Finance's buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of an '08 S80 3.2 2WD with 12,000 miles per year were .00189 and 45%, respectively. I say were because I have not ... Read More
Car Man or others, I am in market for either 2008 or 2009 s80. Over the weekend dealers told me that there was no more leasing on 2008's only to be told today that Volvo Finance is offering leases. I hear that $4750 dealer cash may still be available on 2008's but no idea on 2009. Any idea about incentives, residuals, factors on 36 or 48 month leases 12k per year? ... Read More
Can the 2008 S80-V8 spare wheel/tire to be used on a 2007 S80-V8 with 18" tires be obtained from another source other than a Volvo dealer?
How much of MSRP should I expect to get on a 2008 Volvo S80 V8. Can also get Ford A plan too. I think MSRP is around 54k. Thanks!
Thanks for the great advice. I'm actually in preliminary talks for a used (demo) 2008 S80 3.2 model with 6,000 miles. The only upgrades are PCC and the climate package. I haven't really started negotiating yet, so I wanted to get some advice from you before I head back in there to cut a deal this weekend. Since the car was a demo, it is eligible for the new car program, ... Read More
Hi sweeney4. Volvo is only running a special lease program on the base 2008 S80. If you were to lease one through Volvo Finance right now for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year, its buy rate lease money factor and residual value would be .00142 and 50%, respectively. If you want to lease any other version of this car, you will be better off doing so through an independent bank. ... Read More

Even me! Wow. 2008 S80 DOES come w/ a spare.
I am seriously considering a 2008 Volvo S80 3.2 purchase in the next month or so. I thought I read in one of these forums that S80s no longer come with a spare tire? Also, after reading about some of the mechanical issues with slightly older S80s, I wonder what the reliability of a 2008 S80 would be. Would love to hear from folks with current experience and even "Volvomax" for ... Read More
Yes- thanks! I am going to the NYC auto show tomorrow, and hopefully they will offer the rebate. I plan to pick up my S80 this Friday- I posted the details of my deal on this board (message #89)- and am hoping that I'll be able to add an auto show rebate! MSRP IS $41,300 - $42,500 (because of Venator wheels - if the car on the lot has rims on it, they will throw them in, otherwise u get standard wheels) As far as residual is concerned, i honestly didn't ask them, because i didn't care, ... Hi mrdrifty. Volvo's normal dealer cash incentives are not available on leases, but Volvo is providing a special $1,500 cash incentive that is. For some reason, it appears as though Volvo is only running a special lease program through Volvo Finance on base 2008 S80 3.2 models. Its current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2008 S80 3.2 base with 15,000 miles ... Read More

Here's what I was told for the S80- 36 months - 15K miles: Residual: 49% (T6); 46% (V8) MF: .00197 Lease money (taken off of sales price): $7000 (T6), $9000 (V8) This was through a third party bank (not Volvo Finance) and expires Feb. 29.
That may be perhaps the worst deal I have ever seen! Certainly, I would recommend never to go back to that dealer, or even respond. If it were me though, I would tell them to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. Anyone know what the lease cash is right now on the S80 from Volvo?
we replaced our 2005 es330 with a 2008 s80 t6 and the volvo is much better than the lexus in every way. and considering the cheaper lease deals compared to the new es350, the volvo is a steal. the lexus drives like a camry while the volvo drives like a luxury car - smoother and quieter.
Stopped by a nearby dealer today to inquire about leasing a 2008 S80 with AWD, 24 month, 12K per year, zero cap reduction, (note: we have excellent credit). Hi Car_Man, Can you provide the money factor and residuals for the 2008 Volvo S80 T6 and V8 for 24 and 36 months for 12,000 miles per year? Thanks
Is the RL fun to drive? In my opinion, no. I haven't spent a ton of time behind the wheel of the car, mostly because of how bland the driving experience was. Unlike the M, the RL cannot disguise its weight. It rolls badly in corners, and though SH-AWD tries its best, all that weight over the front axle just leads to understeer, understeer, understeer. Even Audi would call it overly ... Read More
Hello bcumberledge. While the base MSRP of the 2008 Volvo S80 3.2 is only $39,450, one could easily add options to it to bring it to the $49,000 level. Navigation costs $2,000, the Sport Package is $2,500, the Climate Package is $875, park assist is $500. As you can see, the options add up. I do not want to repeat what was already said in the Volvomax' response, but just want to let you know that when in late 1999 I was looking for the large upscale family sedan, I have driven pretty much each and every vehicle that fits this description in 30 to 40K range - Acura TL, Infinity I30, Cadillac STC, Audi A6 3.2, BMW 525, M-B E320, Saab 9-5 Linear, Lincoln ... Max, Our second OSD European trip for XC90 was such a success, that I am all in anticipation of our next trip 4 years from now, when I more likely will replace my 2000 S80. Could you shed some light on what is coming as far as the next generation of S80 is concerned? Is Volvo planning for the significantly updated model between now and 2008?
