Had noise from front left since 15.000 miles. My car now has 31.000 miles on it. Volvo North America finally agreed to replace gearbox under warranty (after many visits to dealer) - in the shop as we speak... I really hope this will fix this problem. A little disappointed on Volvo service/warranty that it took them this long to acknowledge problem that started years ago. Anyone else having noise/problem from transmission ... Read More
I have two 2007 S80 V8 (keyless drive). The one my wife drives is working fine but the one I dirve has been towed to the dealership 3 times already. I guess my luck is 50/50 The 3 times were: 1. Could not start the car due to computer crashed - dealership reset computer and updated the computer software. 2. "Oil level low, Fill engine oil" warning - dealership replace faulty ... Read More
I had a '99 T6 and loved the car. The early ones had transmission problems (due to some bolt holes in the wrong places) that gave them a bad name. However, I found it to be a great car. However, as all newer Volvos it is not cheap to maintain, even if you don't use a dealer. I used a factory trained but non dealer servicing company that I have found ... Read More
I have a 2007 S80-V8 AWD with 18" rims with are easily bent from potholes on the various roads and highways. So far I have experienced four bent rims within a year. I am considering replacing the 18" rims with 17" rims in order to keep this great car. What advice or considerations should I consider. Lastly, where can I purchase 17" rims (Volvo OEM or after market)?
When you get right down to it... almost every accident is the result of human stupidity, carelessness, inattention, or lack of skill. Personally, I don't believe there are any "accidents". Most are "caused" by driver stupidity and lack of skill. Well, the word "accident" just implies that whoever was at fault was not intentionally trying to injure the other driver. I've heard the "I've been to a driver training school, or ... Read More
My wife and I just bought a Certified Pre-owned 2007 S80. 3.2 engine. No adaptive cruise, parking sensors, or Nav, but otherwise loaded. Looking forward to as many good miles in this as we've put on our other Volvos.
Can the 2008 S80-V8 spare wheel/tire to be used on a 2007 S80-V8 with 18" tires be obtained from another source other than a Volvo dealer?
Is there a spare tire that can obtained for the 2007 Volvo S80-V8 with 18" tires? If so, will it fit into the wheel well in the trunk? Please advise!!
There is no "daylight" mode. When the lights are on, they are on full power. Personally, I dislike having the lights on during the day, so I had mine switched off.
How will the tail lights be affective when day light ends with the running lights on? Can you leave the light switch in the"0" position and will all the lights (head and tail) switch into the the night mode. Or would a better choice be - to have the running lights be disconnected through Volvo dealer software, requiring the driver to manually turn headlights on and off.
Volvo doesn't offer Run Flat tires for the S80. You can replace the Pirelli's with any tire.
No, sadly, not so far. Message persists and is still annoying. Someone out there (at Volvo NA!??) should know how to do it, or maybe its one of those that must have the attention of the expensive computer only volvo dealers can afford. I can, annoyed, live with it. doctor dick.
Did you ever find out how to get that annoying service message permanently erased from your 2007 (keyless) S80? I, too, don't want to drive 120 miles to my nearest Volvo dealer! Thanks! MP
Does anyone know how to turn off the service reminder on the 2007 S80? That is, except by going to the Volvo dealer for service. Thanks for your help! doctor dick.
So I just got this car 1 month ago (800 total miles now). This morning I go out into my garage to start it, and nothing. The key will not even eject. No power, no nothing. I call Volvo roadside, and in the meanwhile decide to pop open the hood, and possibly jump the car. I simply remove the battery cover, and wa la, the lights come on inside the car. ... Read More
as the host said, what you want is the most important reason. As far as other reasons, I think probably the 2 biggest are the fact that a Volvo is less expensive than other luxury brands (save maybe Infiniti) when similarly equipped AND that you will be in a more exclusive group (ie, far less S80s driving around out there than 5-series and E-class cars).
Umm, because you want one? That's the most important reason of all! :) There are lots of posts here that may be helpful. You can read through them while you are waiting for some input. Have fun!
I'm interested in purchasing a Volvo S80. I live in Southern California where luxury sedans are popular, but mostly BMW and Mercedes. I want to get feedback on why I should buy a Volvo over other luxury sedan models.
Hi Spencer. Are you interested in a 2008 or a 2007 Volvo S80? I suspect that you are talking about an '07 model. Correct me if this is not the case. The selling price that you were quoted for this car looks good to me. I'm starting the process of deciding if to lease a 2007 3.2 S80. The current lease offer sounds appealing, but I'm trying to understand the math behind the numbers. I'm qualified for "X" plan pricing, customer loyalty (I'm currently leasing a 2006 S60), as well as another available incentives. I've read about the $11K incentive to finance through a bank other than volvo-finance (although my dealer acts like he's never heard ... Read More

Aside from an average $2,100 off plus $2,000 volvo ownership program, what is really a fair price for the car? MSRP is 42,985. If I'm not satisfied with the final price would I lose my deposit on the ordered car?
I'm about to get delivery of a 2007 S80 3.2, the dealer keeps telling that the APL doesn't make sense and doesn't even offer a quote versus current offer. Anyone who can help with how much the reduction on the MF is on the APL versus regular current lease?

Drove the 2007 S80 V8 today. Volvo did it right...I've owned the 2000 BMW 5 series a Toyota Avalon XLS. They don't come close. My wife's everyday driver is a 2002 Volvo C70 convertible another terrific auto. I'm starting to become a Volvo believer. The 2007 S80 V8 is a great car.
I've owned nothing but Volvos for the past 35 years. The cost of ownership with my S80 however convinced me that it would be my last Volvo. Dismal reliability coupled with extraordinary repair costs, and poor resale value don't make for a winning combination. If you do some research to understand the service record of the 99-06 S80 models, you will understand in short order that the cars were fraught with ... Read More
Thank you all for the info on 3.2 AWD. www.volvocanada.com already has 3.2 AWD on list, while Volvo UK hasn't shown this yet.. Another thing I am curious about will be the side impact score by IIHS on this new s80. Volvo always has top numbers on front and rear impact (www.iihs.org). But both 2007 s40 & s60 have only "acceptable" ratings on side-impact that made them miss "Top Safety Pick ... Read More
Hi: For 2007 S80, dose anyone hear anything (rumor, car magazine,..etc) that Volvo will bring in AWD for I6 at least as an option? I live in northeast US, AWD will be very much a "safety feature". Yes. There's a big dealer show in Las Vegas (or something like that) in early December. Demos should be available shortly after that. Still no brochures, but maybe early December.
Has anyone checked with their local Volvo dealer about getting a 07' copy yet ? Rocky

Sell The Bimmers, Mercedes, Masaratti, and get a load of this real performance luxury car. It's not the fastest, best handler, but arguably the safest. The all new 2007' Volvo S80. I really hated doing this to you pal. But I had a good idea of what the S80 had for technology, based on browsing through it a little over a month. I hope now you realize the 06' S80 can't hold Caddy's Jock. The 2007' model will fair much better and I really like it alot. The 07' S80 IMHO has the best interior of any car under $100K. If the 2007 S60R got the Dynaudio, I look at one. Why in the Heck is Volvo canceling the highly sucessful S60 "R" ???? That is too bad. There are some very good lease deals on the S60R. Volvo wants to reserve the Dynaudio system for their halo cars. The C70, S80 V8, XC90. The next S60R will probably not debut before 2010 or 2011. 2007 is the last year for the current R.
The link below from Volvo's European Website shows S80 pricing and configurations/options there. I assume this may at least tell us what is likely coming to the USA sometime later (basic, SE, and Luxury packages). Volvo's flagship is due for a redesign since it was introduced in 1999. The new generation looks good and isnt overstyled like many other cars. Spy Shots: 2007 Volvo S80 Is a V8 in the immediate future?
The photographers are tipped on what car is tested. I do think it's a Volvo. It has a very typical back panel, and all the cars usually very heavily disguised either with the aprons or plastic applications, some times even with the plywood extensions.
The 6 speed will not arrive on the S80 until 2007. Volvo will have a new Inline 6 at the same time.
The next S80 is scheduled(tentatively) for the 2007 model yr. Look for the new I6 as well as the new V8, plus AWD in the car. There is a picture of the car under a car cover that is floating around the various boards. From what I can deciper the design is closer to the new S40, with a little of the V90 concept thrown in. Volvo has been hinting on ... Read More
