hi just had fault diagnosed on my volvo s80 d5 2005 model, the codes that came up were p1700, p1516 and p0700 can anyone tell me what these codes are and what they mean i have been having a few probs with auto gearbox it is great when cold but starts gerking when hot from start thank you karl Read More...

I had a 2001 S80 and regretted it from the very beginning. It was a service loaner with 8000 miles on it. I traded it in a year and a half later with 28000 miles, and lost 50% of what I paid just to be rid of it. I traded it for a 2005 G35x which was nice for my wife but too small--we eventually traded that for a 2006 Lexus RX400h hybrid which we still love to this day. But I digress...the ... Read More...

I have a 2005 S80 and recently looked at the BMW 5 series as a second car. The Volvo gives you more value for your money. THe ride and handling on my T6 is smoother and not as firm as the BMW and prefer the Volvo. Also looked at the Jaguar XJ8 and that is a fantastic riding car. Wish I could afford it. Read More...

we replaced our 2005 es330 with a 2008 s80 t6 and the volvo is much better than the lexus in every way. and considering the cheaper lease deals compared to the new es350, the volvo is a steal. the lexus drives like a camry while the volvo drives like a luxury car - smoother and quieter. The Volvo S80 is Volvo's LPS entry as far as I can tell. It may not rise to the L or the P of the LPS sedans chewed about on this forum. At worst it is a "near"-LPS car. The newest version with a V8, AWD and most of the features and creature comforts afforded LPS owners probably is a "contender." Based on my 6 months (7244 miles) experience with 2006 Volvo S80 2.5T AWD, I highly recommend it. Runs great and very stable ride at high speed (>80 mph), so much difference from Honda Accord I used to have. I encountered one glitch at the very beginning (93 miles): check engine light on, which was easily fixed by software update. Fuel efficiency is better than published ... Read More...

So BMW slipped in 2006 ? They had the highest resale in 2005. I'm leaning torwards a BMW, because I only have to drive 45 minutes to get to the dealership in Amarillo. The Volvo, dealership is in Lubbock,(2 1/2 hours away)and I wasn't thrilled at all with the way they treated me when I was trying to buy a S60R. Rocky Read More...

I can agree with you 100%...I have NEVER had a vehicle that was such a hunk of JUNK as my 99 S80 T6. Have had to replace the ABS master control system, the fan for the AC, the compressor, and the power-steering reservoir. Auto-dimming rearview mirror blew a seal and costs $530+ to replace, (luckily it still reflects so no-go there), I have had to replace a broken headlight ... Read More...

Since Oct. 2005 my S80 has required more than $5,300 in repairs/maintenance. Had to replace transmission at 27,000 miles, replace an engine mount at 30,000 in addition to an oil leak repair which came to over $1,700. Had to replace front disk brake pads at 25,000 miles.
