Volvo S80

Re: Volvo Reliabilty [raythomas]

I would consider Volvo a reliable car. I have a 2000 S80, 180,000 miles and no major problems to date. Read More...

Re: 1999 s80 T6 [jean007]

Hi Jean007 (Bond is it?) I think your concern is spot on if you plan on servicing it at a Volvo dealer. If you have a reasonable private mechanic maybe that's ok. I bought an 02 S80 T6 about a year ago for my teenage son to drive. I was principally concerned about safety and it has cost alot more than my Honda and Toyota for routine maintenance (which I always have done ... Read More...

Volvo S80 Starting Issues

Re: 2000 S80 starting issue [jpark2]

I have absolutely no confidence in any Volvo dealership I have encountered. (Only 2 in my area). One dealer charged me $1000.00 because my dash lights went out. They just kept replacing modules in the steering column, first the Steering wheel module, then the turn signal switch, then headlight switch, which was the problem. In the process, they broke the steering ... Read More...

2000 S80 starting issue

I have an S80 2.9 L . After the car sits for a while, or over night, I need to crank the engine a few seconds, turn it off, and crank again to get it started. Had it to a Volvo dealer, no codes, they did a compression check on the cylinders, and cylinder #6 is a little low (125 psi).instead of 175 psi, like the other cylinders. They said I need a new engine for $9000.00. WTF. ... Read More...

Volvo S80 Suspension

Re: S 80 Suspension [cchase17]

i also have a 2000 s80 T6. it has developed a clunk on the passenger front. i have replaced tie rod bushings up front that were worn but that was not the cause of the noise. i had it to my mechanic today and his diagnosis is that the strut mounting bracket is broke and is allowing the front strut to move up and down making the noise. i have had him order the part from volvo ... Volvo S80 Lease Questions

Re: Lease Details [jabber]

Did you go through Volvo financing or other bank? I have a selling price of 30,670 (base S80) after all discounts and with 2000 down the monthly payments are 509 for 36 months. The manager tells me that he is going with a bank which will not charge me taxes and with residual of 43%,MF 0.003. I though the monthly payment is high. Read More...

Volvo S80

Re: 156k miles 2000 S80 needs help with service [iknow1]

there is absolutely no way anybody can tell you what is wrong without at least reading the codes that are making your lights come on. If I were you, I'd be visiting the dealer or a dedicated volvo mechanic ASAP. Read More...

Volvo S80 Lease Questions

Re: Anyone ?? [jay2001]

Jay and Chuchumouth..... First of all, I think any dealer telling you that you'd have to wait weeks and weeks to get an S80 the way you want is full of it. It's true that most of the 3.2s are ordered with the climate pkg, but that only adds a few dollars on the lease, not really enough to make a big difference. Judging from the numbers you wrote from Boston, I think you should ... Read More...

Volvo S80 Prices Paid and Buying Experience

Re: 2004 volvo s80 [familyshopper]

Is your teeen going to be going off to college? I traded my daughter's 2001 Infiniti that I had bought for her when I bought my new S80. I gave her my 2000 S80 thinking that it was a better car and I knew the maintenance history, etc. When it died on her and I took it to a local gargage that is excellent, they told me I had to take it to a Volvo dealer. Said that they couldn't ... Read More...

Loud Noise/Vibration when Heat/Defrost Turns On

Hi have a 2000 Volvo S80 with about 67,000 mi on. I live in Wisconsin and it was about 17 degrees outside, so it was a cold one. When I turned my car on the defrost made a loud vibrating noise when on high. I could feel the vibrations when I held onto the steering wheel as well. When the heat is on, it does the same thing. This happens when the heat or defrost is turned up more ... Read More...
