It does feel like the power/acceleration is there, and the sound seems to lighten up as the car hits 30-40mph and higher. New Volvo part alone is $450-900. If this is the problem, bypass the dealer and do the repair yourself for about $100. Rebuilt ABS modules are available for much less, and they are usually rebuilt better than the new units ... Read More

After one year and 6,000 miles, I just had my 2000 s70 base serviced for the first time. Martin Manhattan Volvo charged over $300, with tax. It included tire rotation and balancing, alignment and other things I would not have expected on the first service. The car had been trouble-free. Was I taken?

ca1110 -- Congratulations on your new purchase. I too just recently bought a 2000 S70 SE. I also live in the SF Bay Area (bought the car from Smythe Volvo in San Jose). I paid $99 over invoice, and their invoice price included a $300 advertising fee that I was told was charged by the manufacturer. My research indicated that there is an advertising fee built into the base price for ... Read More

Hello....I purchased a 2000 Volvo S70GLT and have a question.....are the power window switches for the rear doors lighted at night? My front switches are lighted but my back ones are not, and I wondered if this is with all S70's or just my car has a problem. Thanks much for responses!!

dpares, I don't know if that action code 593 applies to all 2000 volvo s70 automatics. When I called my service manager about it, he laughed at me, and put me through to the mechanic's voicemail. Apparenlty the mechnanic called some service line and they said to install this "action code" (whatever that is; I think is it a software upgrade). In any event, it probably wouldn't hurt to ask your ... Read More

I had recently purchased a 2000 S70 and it has already been in the service department 4 times for the same exact problem. Within the past 4 1/2 months that I have had the car, my turn signals have failed to work. I was told by the service dept that this is a common problem among Volvo cars. What I don't understand is why Volvo cannot manufacture a car where the ... Read More

Hi everyone. I just took my new 2000 S70 in to the dealer to get a rattle taken care of, and I complained about a couple of other problems I was having. I am having intermittent problems with the automatic transmission (or at least I believe that it is the transmission). When I am slowing to stop or turn a corner the car downshifts very hard and makes a kind of ... Read More

I just purchased a 2000 SE GLT and find it a real fine automobile. The only problem that I'm experiencing is the lack of visibility when backing up and, in several instances, changing lanes. The high back seats and closeness to the door/window leave a very small window of sight to safely manuever the vehicle. I'm sure others have had the same problem and I'm curious as to what others have ... Read More

My new volvo drives excellent. But, I was not imagining things when I heard a rattle. I have developed a very loud (and annoying rattle) in the back, before I even reached 100 miles on the odometer! I think there is also a rattle in the front seat somewhere. It upsets me to have spent so much money on a car and then have it develop these noises (my husband is ... Read More

In answer to some earlier posts.. 1) I purchased my 2000 S70 SE for $27,400 in NJ ... 2) Car is nice..great seats ...fit and finish are first class... I like the ride...like a firm ride. 3) BUT a firm ride doesent mean good handling.. I came off a 3 series BMW with sport suspension so i might be biased but.... Volvo handling , or breaks, aren't inspiring at all.. car leans ... Read More

I have owned an S70 1999 Base for about 10 months now, and am very pleased with the car. My initial impression of the ride was the same as yours. I have softened the ride (somewhat) by paying close attetion to the tire pressures front and rear. I have the Michelins on my car (came with the car) and I find keeping 31PSI front and 32PSI rear improves the ride considerably. ... Read More
