I am trying to decide between these 2 cars. The volvo has 62K miles and everyone says that they are not as reliable as the Infiniti which has 55K miles on it. Both cars drive awesome. The volvo does not feel as if it has a 90/10 split in the AWD with 90% going to the front? As for the infiniti, it drives awesome, pushes the car because it is rear ... Read More
I am trying to decide if I should purchase a 2006 Volvo S60 R AWD with 62K miles on it. It was originally the owners of a volvo dealer. The body is perfect as well as the interior. My issue is maintenance down the road. Should I buy an Infiniti G35 instead?
Looking into buying a used (2006/2007) AWD sedan with good mpg 25+ highway for around/under $20K, and I think I've narrowed it down to a 2007 Volvo S60 or an 06/07 Audi Quattro. The price is driving me toward the Volvo and I'm interested in hearing from all parties about good AWD vehicles with 25+ Highway MPG, whether or not they are the Volvo/Audi. I haven't looked a lot into the ... Read More

I stopped into the local Volvo dealer (Volvo of Nashville) and noticed a glut of 2006 S60 2.5T FWD models and I was wondering how much I should be paying for one if I decided to buy. Here's an example: 2006 Volvo S60 2.5T FWD $17,900 25,548 miles Willow Green Metallic What would be reasonable for the car? I was thinking somewhere in the $15,500-$16,500 neighborhood... Hello- New to this forum but this sounds like exactly what is going on with my 2006 S60 T5. My wife will drive it to work in the morning and then like clockwork at lunch it will sputter and not start and the second time it will start up. I have been into our Volvo dealership going on 8 times (UGH!!!) and they have replaced the computer, putting in a new ... Read More
Was hoping to get some advice on my search. Looking to spend no more than 22k on a used entry level luxury sedan. No more than say 40-50k miles. This would be my commute to work car, other car is a Honda CRV for family duty but this needs to be able to handle a car seat as a "plan b". My personal priority list would look something like: 1. I had an 2006 until this past weekend. As far as safey, EXCELLENT. I was hit from behind going 70mph on the interstate by a van traveling 80+mph I spun into an SUV and then spun off the road - nobody hurt thankfully. I never rolled, had no injuries at all. My car looked pretty good considering. I spun off the road in it in the winter going 60 and it ... Read More
I own a 2006 Volvo S60 T5 and am continuing to have a problem with a popping sound in the driver's seat....especially when making turns, accelerating, or braking. The dealer said they had fixed it with a TSB for the WHIPS system. The "fix" worked for about a week and then it was right back to making the popping sound. Has anyone encountered this problem and if so what else would ... Read More
I have a 2006 S60 T5. I bought it for the seats because I have a bad back. I'd love Volvo to have automated the lumbar support like they did the other adjustments - will they? I don't know what the MPG is per Volvo, but I live in LA and do mostly city driving i.e., 10-30 mph most of the time. My MPG is averaging 16-17. No matter what gasoline ... Read More
Hi folks, Just purchased a 2006 Volvo as above. Formerly a VOLVO UK owned car and has a mere 6500 miles on it. It has the D5 2.4 ltr 185bhp diesel mated to the 6-spd Geartronic and all the usual toys and a wonderful sound system, (for a standard fit). Performance is "brisk", particularly in the mid-range with its 295lbft of torque and I'm getting to love the beast. Comfort and ... Read More
Hi, Kasperghost (and anyone else who knows)... I wanted your advice. I've got a 2006 S60 T5 and according to my trip monitor, I'm averaging 17-19mpg. (The car has 15,000 miles on it - I bought it used from a dealer in May 06 at 7700 miles. The dealer had put it on the road in Dec 05.) I do all city (Los Angeles) driving, not much freeway though. Hello all, I really need some fast help. I am trying to get out of a 2006 Mercedes-Benz C230. Because of a great promotion on my job, I now have 22,000 miles on the car and I bought it new in July 06 and the miles will keep coming. I found several dealers that are offering incentives one of which is Volvo on the S60. After offering $30,000 on the S60, ... Read More
Congratulations. I missed the earlier thread (which I've now read), but ironically, I traded my 2004 Volvo S60 in for a 2006 MB C280 9 months ago. I, OTOH, am very happy with the tradeoff. But... it all depends what's important. The S60 was too big; had too wide a turning radius; didn't operate all that well (relatively) in the snow/ice (I'm in Northern Illinois). The MB C280 is narrower (I ... Read More
Happy Ending . . . I got a screaming deal this weekend on the 2006 S60, lo miles, right color, etc! I am happy I didn't go with the MB C280. I had a 2006 C280 4Matic for a loaner car recently and it didn't drive anything like my CLK. I was shocked. It didn't have the Mercedes ride or feel. My wife drives a 2006 S60 AWD 2.5T and I have a 2006 A4 2.0T quattro auto. I'm not sure how they market these cars (as in suggesting they should compete with one another), but they are markedly different from one another. I agree with the comment made some time back about the S60 turning radius - horrible. But I would not drive past the Volvo dealer just because of that ... Read More
We are not discussing the M3 or S4 in this forum. Second the 335i meets or beats performance numbers of the S60R. Does the S60R go from 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds. That is M3 territory. You can't have it both ways. The S60 is not an M3 at Accord prices. Performance numbers of the 335i beat every performance number of the S60R. Even if they are tied in some ... Read More
Hi Voxboy, I'm going to jump in here. I bought a 2006 S60 T5 (ex-service vehicle) this year, and a couple of months ago I got rear-ended. By the way, WHIPS didn't engage - I ... Read More
The Camry is a reliable car - why not buy that? I drive an S60 primarily because I have always had safety at the top of my list. The S60 gives me safety and a sports car peformance and look etc etc. I would have thought a Honda was a pedestrian choice quite frankly and not on the same page as a Volvo.
I have owned an Accord V6 and have used both accords and volvos. Accords are generally considered more reliable and I had no problems with mine, but I plan to buy an s60 next time for the following three reasons: better traction, smaller dimensions, and whiplash protection. Both cars are good bets, although it seems that a higher percentage of volvo owners get unlucky with their particular car. That said, and ... Read More

Yes, compared to a Buick, it's "sporty" - but then again, at $25-6K(depending on the engine choice)for a 2006, it comes in way WAY under the price ... Read More
None of these cars are luxury cars. The segment is entry level luxury sport sedans. Manufacturers who make luxury automobiles, these are the bottom of the heap. Last I looked Volvo or Mazda don't make luxury vehicles. Rebates and incentives will be gone in a few months for 2006 models. It's a pricing anomaly, much like Black Friday. Comparing a 2006 Volvo outgoing model with a new 2007 335i is ludicrous. ... Read More
Hello raindrop3. I believe what you were told was correct. I don't think that Volvo is providing lease support on 2006 models any longer. It is just providing dealers with closeout cash on them to help them unload their remaining models. If you want to lease, you will be much better off going with an '07 S60. As far as this car's cash incentives go, Volvo is not currently providing cash ... Read More

I'm a warranty guy (have had good luck with them), so I would have taken it for $1200. I just bought a new one and the warranty was $1500 for 48mos/100K miles. The price sounds reasonable, because around here (Wisconsin), they don't deal much.
I just took delivery of a 2006 S60 AWD pretty well loaded. The dealer sold it to me for $5K under their invoice - sticker $39450, $31700 out the door. Volvo has dealer incentives for remaining 2006 vehicles that are not advertised. Not even the online services know about them, that I've seen. Be sure to shop and ask your dealer about incentives if a 2006 is OK for you.
I recently went to three dealers in New Jersey to negotiate on a similar car (S60 loaner, roughly 6 to 7K miles, climate and premium package, metallic paint, auto transmission). In each case, the dealer was willing to sell for $24.5K, which appeared to be the true rock bottom price. I bought the car from a dealer in Edison which offered a much higher trade-in price for my Honda (It had ... Read More
Nope, 2007. Not sure how long it will last since these things change each month. My understanding, which may not be correct, is that 2006's become unattractive to support after some time since the residual values drop so low once 2007's show up in large enough quantities. Bridgewater Volvo in NJ is where we bought the car. Picking it up on Thurs. Ask for the internet sales manager.
Anyone know a place in the LA area that does good work installing GPS systems/after-market sound systems, etc.? (I've got a 2006 S60 if that makes any difference...) Or should I go to a Volvo body shop and if so, which?
Just thought I would update the group on the S60 leasing experience from my previous post asking for help. Right now (late Sep. 2006) Volvo is offering $7,500 of incentives on the S60. Hi guys, I recently bought a 2006 loaner volvo S60 2.5 T for $25K from a dealer in North east after much negotiation. Please share your opinions.I appreciate any input on this. Thanks in advance.
Thanks Volvomax. So on a 2006 the cap cost should be the same as it was in August, but the residual will be 2 percent less? What is the residual percentage on a 2006 S60 2.5T? Is that number negotialbe or is it set by Volvo? Thanks Again!
I am being offered $390/month for 36 months, 12K/year, $1250 total drive off on a 2006 S60, leather, non-metallic paint, no geartronic, sirius prepped, etc.. Due to credit score I do not qualify for US Bank, only Volvo Finance. 2007 S60 would be $415 for same term. Is this a good deal? What should I ask for? Thanks in advance for any help!
Sunpro2003, Great leases are available on the '07 Volvo 2.5T ASR (FWD) with the premium package and the climate package--$279/mos (red or white) or $289 mos (metallic paints)--for a 36mos/12K mile lease w/no cap cost--a hair over $2K including your taxes up front--so you really pay about $1,300 for true inception costs and the leases are about $299 and $309 respectively when you factor in the taxes you paid up front ... I see the point of the Nav on top of the dash but it looks like it lacks features some of the other Nav systems offer. The Alpine is a solution for the MP3 & DVD discs as well, for half the cost of Volvo's you can get a lot more utility.
problem w/ the touch screens is that you have to take your eyes off the road to use them. Not safe. Having the scrren on top of the dash minimizes this. Some other auto makers are following suit. The Volvo system can be controlled either by the steering wheel or by a remote control.
Honestly I think the Nav for the Volvo (the pop up in the middle) is a little ghetto looking. I've read it's not touch screen, that you control it with some knobs near the steering wheel. For the $2k it costs you can get an aftermarket one for around $1200 less with a lot more features (a Megallan that sticks on your dash). While you have me on it the stereo ... Read More

Thanks for confirmation of the lease incentive and I hear you on the residuals. Do you happen to know what the residuals are for the 36/48/60 month terms? The flag next to your name makes me think you work for Volvo or something.
the lease incentive program is designed to unload 06's this month. Are you saying Volvo is still doing the $10k lease incentive in July? An R for under $400/mo on a 36 month lease with 15k miles/year is a great deal IMO, I was expecting it to be in the $500-600/mo range (on a 60 month lease too).
Thanks for the info Car_man! We'll secure the bank loan through leasecompare and take that to see what Volvo Finance can do with their incentive. I'd imagine that their MF would be adjusted or in typical dealer style inflate the RV above what the banks are doing at 42% right now. Do you know the incentive for the 2.5T? Hi carsmart1. Obviously since you are purchasing through Volvo's X-Plan, the selling price that you were quoted for this car looks very reasonable to me. Volvo is running a special lease program on this car right now, but this special program is not compatible with its "Complimentary Premium Package" offer.
