I researched this car for a year before buying and believe I got a pretty good price...about 10% off MSRP. The base engine has enough get up and go but it certainly doesn't compare to the turbo. I bought this car for the safety features and I don't know of another <$30,000 car with this level of safety equipment - side airbags, whiplash protection and four grades of steel. A very refined car at a reasonable price.
leather, safety features, the fact that I've only seen three other S40s over the past 6 months. Another favorite feature - the first four services (7500, 15000, 22500 and 30000) are "free." I also like the 4 yr/50k mile warranty.
Paint chips VERY easily - make sure you buy touch up paint before you leave the dealer, scan feature on the radio is slow, there is an issue with my sun roof and grease marks - that shouldn't happen, the fob is the actual key and it is TOO big, finally - rearview mirror and back window are too small
