Engine performance is merely adequate, as that clever retractable hardtop mechanism does represent a bit of extra weight. Transmission shifts between well-spaced gears are admirably smooth. Steering is responsive, but numb steering feel detracts from the fun-to-drive factor.
Very comfortable seats, with a wide range of adjustment, make the C70 a good fit for almost anybody. Body rigidity is quite good for a convertible, with a minimum of cowl shake. The ride is smooth and controlled, but not too firm. Top-down wind buffeting is not excessive, and with the retractable hard top up, wind noise is markedly better than in a traditional fabric convertible top.
When the retractable hardtop disappears into the trunk, there's no bustle left behind to hamper rearward visibility, resulting in a very open feel. Interior controls are logically laid out and easy to use. The convertible top operates smoothly and quietly with a single button push. Trunk space is smallish with the top down, and you have to raise the top to unload.
A very sleek and graceful design, inside and out. Interior materials and surface graining have a high-quality look and feel. Most of the panel gaps are uniform. Generally, there are no squeaks and rattles, but the top occasionally creaks mildly when hitting large bumps.
Comfortable
The C70's interior is warm and inviting. The optional leather seats are quite comfortable, and just about anyone can find a good driving position behind the wheel. The ride is not too busy or harsh, and is well suited to long distance touring.
Daily Commuter
Due to the retractable hard top, the C70 can be used year-round in any weather. It's logical and well laid laid out controls make it pleasing to drive every day. Good visibility, combined with a short front overhang, make it easy to park.
Image Enhancer
This is a stylish-looking car, especially with the top down. While the brand name may not have the cachet of some other brands, people do notice this one.
