I agree with luvhandle on all points, and can add the following: definitely buy the extended warranty. Repairs have to be done through Volvo on most items, and parts and labor are crazy expensive. We find that little things tend to break on this car: side mirror glass fell off ($75, you have to buy the whole thing), two window power switches failed ($300 each time), car needed a new master ... I have just purchased 2004 c70 but cd player wont take up discs Ive been told by volvo it cant be repaired as the mechinisism is broken can any one help me with advise the radion and cassette work fine
I have 3 good & 1 not so good spoked wheels & tires for sale for a 2004 C70. I hit a pot hole and damaged one of the wheels so I replaced all 4 with new tires. I live in the Allentown PA area and I'm willing to consider a reasonable offer.
I also have a 2004 C70 and when I bought it (used) the dealer had 2. The first one that I tested sounded like yours. Awful, loose front, rattled, just awful. It had 36,000 miles on it. The one that I bought has only 27K on it and its tight, handles good (except turning radius) and is generally very nice to drive. I'd find a good "private" shop that specializes in ... Read More
It's not your tires. I've had the same problem, put on new top of the line Bridgestones and no change. Volvo admits they have a "slight vibration problem" but no fix offered. My 2004 C70 now shimmy's at 26 and 52 and occasionally when starting out. Have you had any success in resolving this problem?
Have found ipd (ipdusa.com) in Portland, Oregon to be an excellent source of Volvo C70 "after market" items, including suspension, exhaust, etc; and Technical Information.
Hi: Sorry that I'm late to the game here. I did overseas delivery on my wife's 2004 XC90 (I have a 2000 C70 w/135k miles). I did not take any of the tours that they had. Instead I did about 1800 miles driving from the factory to Prague, Vienna, Budapest. Then up through Koln and dropped the car off in Belgium (100euro fee) to be shipped back. The OSD program by ... Hi, I just bought a 2004 C70 with about 30,000 miles on it and noticed a wobble at about 45-50 mph. The dealer said it is probably tyre/wheel related. Wonder if anyone has had the same experience? Also the Volvo dealership wants $590 for the 30,000 miles service which I think is a rip off. Does anyone know if a regular mechanic can do the same thing for less? Otherwise it ... Read More
I've had my C70 for about 2 weeks and I absolutely LOVE this car. I had a 2004 C70 for a year that I traded in and its like night and day. The new one was one that the dealer had on the lot for less than 24 hours because someone ordered it for a lease and decided not to proceed with the $899 payment a month so they called me ... I have a 2004 C70 that has been at Volvo service for about 8 times and finally was seen by the Regional Rep yesterday. The problem I experience is a shimmy/vibration at 50 mph that seems to go away at 70 mph. It is extremely noticable. The rep says that its the high performance tires and that I should get new tires - geez, it only has 10K miles! They say ... Read More
Need advice on buying a 2004 C70 conv. by gholby Nov 08, 2005 (3:21 pm) a friend is offering me his 2004 Volvo C70 11,700 miles. Silver with blue top, perfect condition - $28,000 - what he could get as a trade in. Is this a fair price? Thanks Gard
Dumb question ... bought my first volvo (2004 S60 2.5T) back in October of 2004 ... good price $26,800 ... financed $22,731.50 ... told the local dealer i was interested in the new C70 ... so they ordered one in my name with my specs with their money... supposed to have first dibs on when it comes in April/May ... and this is the dumb question... should i expect to pay ... flgirl, you will get all sorts of info just digging around this forum. Your best bet is to drive one and judge for yourself. I, personally, would not buy one out of warranty unless it was a tremendous deal...too many potential headaches. On the other hand, I trade my cars around warranty expiration time anyway(did keep a Miata for 10 years but that's a different story). Just don't expect this vehicle ... Read More
I like the new look also, but I was told by my sales guy at Volvo that it will be around 45k.It will only offer 1 engine, unlike the previous which offered a low pressure turbo, vs a high pressue, more spunky engine. I had an 04 HTP built for me and took delivery in Aug 04. It looks just like the one in the picture here. Light blue but with ... Read More
I am in the market for a convertible and love the volvo c70. I am debating on buying a used low mileage 04 c70 or waiting for the 06. I like the interior of the 04(lots of room) and have not seen the 06. I can purchase an 04 with low mileage (less than 20k) for around $30k. Any thoughts . . .?
Rick, ...one more thing. As I have learned from this site, there is no comparison between a current V70 (based on a wagon version of the current S60) and your C70 which is based on the older S70 underpinnings from the 1990's which is based closely on the even older 850 platform from the early 90's. Obviously Volvo is learning from earlier platforms like our convertible's and applying better engineering to ... Read More
We got one of the first 1999 C70 convertibles in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in January 1999. We loved it and when we learned it would no longer be available later this year, we traded the 1999 in on a nearly identical 2004 (under the theory that it would then last 5 years longer). When looking at convertibles back in 1998 and 1999, what we liked about the Volvo was the ... Read More
Anyone know much about the new C70 (if that's what it will be called) coming out next year? Are there likely to be great sales on any leftover 2004 C70's towards the end of the model run?
Here's the copy: Media ID: 1979 Date: Apr 15, 2004 Next convertible officially named C70 Despite what several magazines and newspapers have reported recently, the upcoming all-new Volvo convertible will not be called the C50. The new car will retain the C70 nomenclature that began when the first convertible was launched in 1998. A few publications have even gone so far as to offer some highly inaccurate "artist renderings" of ... Read More
My wife and I are just starting our C70 ownership experience. Everything's great so far...none of the problems listed at Edmunds has cropped up for us. My quick question for anyone who might know is what are Volvo's plans for the C70 line? My dealer said there would be no 2005 C70 but the 2004 model might be extended until introduction of a smaller C50...is that right? Has anyone seen what ... Read More
We had one of the first '99's to be delivered in our region (took delivery January 1999). Other than a recall on headlight and roof issues, no real problems that I can recall. My wife loved the car so much that when she heard it was going to be discontinued, she wanted to trade up to a 2004 so "her car" would last 5 years longer. I had heard about issues ... Read More
I have a 2001 C70 coupe 31,000 miles/nautic blue/tan interior/sunroof/dolby surround 3 CD player/5 speed manual that I just love. It's leased and the lease is expiring in May 2004. I don't really like much out there right now and I really love my car. The only problem I've had was that when I went throug the car wash water leaked through the passenger side door seal. The dealer fixed it ... Read More
Am considering a 2004 C70 Volvo as well as BMW. Anyone have any trouble with this version of Volvo's turbos--both high and low pressure?? Thanks
Yup the C70 will exist thru the 2004 modle year. The new C50 will not be available till 2005. Long time, but not the longest serving Volvo. The 240 ran from 1975 till 1993! I don't like Pirellis, they wear too fast and don't provide as much grip as you think. I love my Pilot Sports, much better tire. Also rides much better. Had a set of P-Zeros on my T5-R, ... Read More
Next coupe will be of the new P1 platform. It will be a 4 seater with a folding hard top. It will not arrive until the 2005 model yr. Current C70cv will be back for 2004. Volvo has always had short lifespans for their coupes. See the 262 and 780 bertones. We ahve done well w/ the convertibles not so well w/ the coupes. Volvo loses money on the cars which ... Read More
