Just picked up my new 2009 C70 today. volvo has some great discounts $6500 off MSRP but my dealer gave it to me off their invoice which is about $2000 less than msrp so I saved $8500 off MSRP
Hi, I'm looking at purchasing a 2000 C70 convertible. The owner tells me that the lid that is supposed to open into the trunk, doesn't open so the top starts going down, then goes back to closing position, since lid won't open. I went on fixit.com and got a Volvo mechanic/expert to give me advice. He said it's a potentiometer issue. Has any one else had this problem & can you ... Read More
I will be taking it to the dealer for a scan check to see if the micro switchs need to be replaced but this is the issue the 12v hood controller in the trunk was change to one from a 1998 car and the original one was miss placed, when Volvo recalibrates the roof system will the 1998 12v hood controller work for my 2000,is this controller hard coded for each car ... Hi: Sorry that I'm late to the game here. I did overseas delivery on my wife's 2004 XC90 (I have a 2000 C70 w/135k miles). I did not take any of the tours that they had. Instead I did about 1800 miles driving from the factory to Prague, Vienna, Budapest. Then up through Koln and dropped the car off in Belgium (100euro fee) to be shipped back. The OSD program by ... I am actually looking for an aftermarket wood trim kit for a 2000 C70. Does anyone know where I can find a decent one? Volvo seems not to sell the entire kit.
Hello All, I'm a 37 year old in Los Angeles. I ordered my Flint Grey Metallic with Off Black Interior in October 2005 and received it mid-July 2006 (and going with the theme, I had originally thought it would have been delivered in March - closer to my birthday). Its loaded - Dynaudio, 18" wheels, nav and park asst. Prior to this vehicle I owned two V70 XC wagons - a ... Read More
yes, I've had 2 replaced on my 2000 volvo c70. I received 2 rebates checks for both.
What's the deal with ones on order with navigation systems? I've been hearing they are delayed. Anyone have any input on adding a non-volvo installed navigation system? Is it worth the extra money to have one that matches the "decor" of the interior. Usually, don't you pay more for a less intuitive system? We have an Acura MDX with a navigation system and we've gotten plenty of use out of it. ... Read More
Hi Eli: For reference, I have a 2000 C70 HT coupe. Gas: Stick with the high octane. With an 18.5 gallon tank you're talking an extra $1.85/$3.70 per fill up on the difference on the other octanes. I commute 25 miles into Chicago every week and only have to fill up twice every three weeks. For me that comes out to about an extra $128 per year (probably more like an ... Read More
Just received a recall letter from Volvo concerning the connections in the headlight switch may deteriorate causing the headlights not to function. Interestingly, the letter was dated January 2005!! The recall involves certain model years 1998-2000 S70, V70, C70 and V70XC. I've had no problems todate with my switch. Has anyone received the recall notice letter or had problems with their headlight switch? Was kinda surprised by the letter since I've ... Read More
Am looking at used C70 Convertibles, specifically 2000 and 2001. Any words of wisdom besides checking service records, etc? I know Volvos have a high life expectancy. Should I consider a C70 with 70K in miles? Thanks
Anyone with 98-2000 c70s notice that your brake pads go quickly. I failed inspection yesterday cause my from pads were down to the metal and rear pads have about 3k miles left to them. It's a good thing I had a set of PBR front pads sitting in the house. Bought them about two years ago for their no low brake dust ability. Went home and get them. Brought them back ... Read More
Just looking through edmunds own overviews - New for 1999: This year, buyers of both coupe and convertible models will enjoy standard interior enhancements that include a leather steering wheel, redesigned interior light switches, 130-mph speed limiter, front fender turn indicators and red walnut dash trim in place of last year's black wood. A new 17-inch alloy wheel option is available in 1999 for both coupes and convertibles. The coupe also ... Read More
Hi... I got my 2000 C70 with 17" alloy rims and Pirelli P6000 tires. One of the Pirellis started bulging out at the sidewall after 10K miles, and Pirelli refused to replace it under warranty (claimed it was a road hazard). Now, 5,000 miles later, I've had another one do the same. @ $250/tire, This is an expensive annoyance.... Has anyone else experienced similar tire flaws with the Pirellis that came ... Read More

Hi. First time poster. I own a 1999 C70 and have only put 19500 miles on it. Since buying it new in 2000, I have had the convertible top in to be repaired 6 times. The top sticks and the windows will not go up and the chime keeps going off, even if the top is up. They replaced sensors and microswitches and finally Volvo North America stepped in and "fixed" ... Volvo did not work hard on improvements or changes since the car came out. I had the C70 2000 coupe low pressure, great car, really no problems after 25000 miles. Decided to have a change and traded in for the new Mercedes C230 Coupe, six speed rear wheel drive, wanted a little more sport, with safety. My C70 is still on their sales lot (after two months) bright red and perfect ... Read More
Hello Volvo. lovers/drivers. I'm looking to trade in my 2000 WV Passats I came across what looks to be a great deal. It's a red 1998 C70 with an auto. transmission and 16,111 miles for $19,995. It's not a convertible. I do intend to see/test drive soon, but I have learned that it has a salvage title on it. Opinions and advice please.
I have found a 2000 C70 Convertible with less than 2,000 miles that was badly damaged, sold through a salvage auction, repaired through a body shop by replacing a clip on the back, right corner of the car. The negotiated price is $30,500. It looks great, however I have some concerns. The car no longer has the Volvo warranty, the steering wheel shakes at all speeds, there is air noise on ... Read More
our C70 (2000 apt) will look exceptional for many years to come. Here in Daytona Beach Florida, there is only 4, these rare cars seems to stand out more and it's great to finally have a car that you do not see many of, and the saying "Hat's a Volvo". I know have a S60T, giving me the best of both worlds, sport coupe, for dad and sport sedan for mom. ... Read More
Sorry. "VolvoScott" starts at post #203. 31,500 just seems a little high to me for a 98. I went on to IPDUSA.com the other day and noticed that their 2,000 project car was around $30,000. The warranty is nice to have as well. While I think that they fixed the door hinge problem for the 2000's (which is what I have), during the cold weather, I have noticed some noise coming ... Golfnuttb: A couple of things from posts a while back would be possible leaking of oil from the turbo which is fixable. Also Volvo used door hinges from the S70 for the C70 and evidently those hinges were not strrong enough to support coupe doors. The best thing to do is to go on this bilboard and read anything from "VolvoScott" as he is a Volvo mechanic in Florida. Had it ... Read More
Sorry... but no, the Coupe far exceeds the Convertible for handling, with a stiffer body shell, there is far less scuttle. The two can't be compared on winding roads ( not that there are many of those in the Memphis area!) Have Volvo deleted the LPT model for 2001? Seems strange, although their whole Marketing/pricing policy for C70s seems to be up the Suwanee... My 2000 Coupe is loaded, deliverd from ... Read More

Does anyone know anything about production problems with the Volvo C70 Convertible for 2001. I have heard that a dispute between Volvo (which builds the bottom of the car) and another vendor (which builds the top of the car) has held up production. Very few are available for delivery in 2000. There are usually quality problems associated with such a dispute. Any insights?
Hi. I'm new to the list and very impressed with the knowledge and civility of the participants having just reviewed the postings about the Volvo C70 since the beginning of this year. Unless my wife surprises me when we compare the C70 to the Saab 9-5 on the road I expect we'll be C70 owners sometime soon. The car will be used mostly for 2-3 hour highway cruises, but will definitely ... Read More
I order a 2000 C70 (LP), 17" wheels (must have)and after owning 850 850t and the C70, think you are better off with the 2000. This has been a common complaint amongst the salesmen at our dealership. They think the answer is to balance the tires. What we've finally concluded is that these cars are sitting for too long on the lot and are actually flat-spotting the tires. So many times we will have to put a new set of tires on a brand new car. Don't let a salesman tell you it's normal, because it's ... Read More
First of all, VolvoScott is not getting married!! Good try though. Rich, if you have a 2000 C70, you should have a 5 spd automatic. You can tell this by looking at the shifter console which should read PRND43L. Thus far it is holding up very well. However, it took us technicians awhile to get used to. Sure shifts differently than anything else I've ever driven. To Schuhc, you should be ... Read More
Volvoscott, Best of luck with your impending marriage. My 2000 c70 convertible was just delivered to me. All seems just perfect. My question to you is that you mentioned earlier that the c70s had 5 spd autos for 2000 and in your last post you say that your fiance requested the 4 sp auto which you ordered. I checked under my hood but can't find any thing to indicate if I ... Read More
carsteve, Aside from the normal 70 series problems, the C70's are bad about door lock motors going bad, and they are much more expensive to fix than the S/V 70's. And they sometimes have problems with the windows hitting the bottom of the door making a rather bad bump sound. If you're planning to buy one, go with a model year 99 or 2000. The 98's had way too many recalls ... Read More
Carsteve, here on the east coast they're not coming down off MSRP on a new C70 either. You're right about the resale value.
