  Just picked up my new 2009 C70 today. volvo has some great discounts $6500 off MSRP but my dealer gave it to me off their invoice which is about $2000 less than msrp so I saved $8500 off MSRP

  Hi, I'm looking at purchasing a 2000 C70 convertible. The owner tells me that the lid that is supposed to open into the trunk, doesn't open so the top starts going down, then goes back to closing position, since lid won't open.   What's the deal with ones on order with navigation systems? I've been hearing they are delayed. Anyone have any input on adding a non-volvo installed navigation system? Is it worth the extra money to have one that matches the "decor" of the interior. Usually, don't you pay more for a less intuitive system?   Now that you mention the antenna wiring, I do recall seeing a TSB on that issue. Pasted below is the info from Edmunds maintenance section on TSB's. Also Volvo used door hinges from the S70 for the C70 and evidently those hinges were not strrong enough to support coupe doors.   Does anyone know anything about production problems with the Volvo C70 Convertible for 2001. I have heard that a dispute between Volvo (which builds the bottom of the car) and another vendor (which builds the top of the car) has held up production. Very few are available for delivery in 2000. There are usually quality problems associated with such a dispute. Any insights?

  carsteve, Aside from the normal 70 series problems, the C70's are bad about door lock motors going bad, and they are much more expensive to fix than the S/V 70's. And they sometimes have problems with the windows hitting the bottom of the door making a rather bad bump sound. If you're planning to buy one, go with a model year 99 or 2000.
