In a 1999 Volvo C70 convertible the light on the switch that operates the convertible top stays on what is wrong?
I have a 1999 C70 which got stuck in the same position as yours a couple of days ago. If you have solved your problem I woud really like to know. The next available time in the Volvo workshop is 1 month away and then it is getting to cold to drive. Rgds,Per
Recently had timing belt replaced as well as new front rotors and pads. Noticed soon after a low rumble or grinding noise coming from front end as the car slows to a complete stop. Returned to dealer who did the work. They checked it out and found nothing wrong. Said maybe rotors needs to be seated. In time will quiet down. I want to know if this is a brake problem ... Hello all. 1999 C70 Turquoise Pearl. Bought new and have enjoyed it until recently. It always had irritating problems but the beauty, okay I forgave it countless times. Now, during a rain (heavy or not) my rear catches water like a basin. Yesterday the trunk had accumulated about 2" of rain and after drying it out, I covered the beast. Today, with no more rain, I still have water sloshing around ... Read More
Lets hope these problems are not isolated to the c70. But again, relative to other cars that are mass produced in high volumes, we have only seen a small sampling of the already low volume produced c70 have quite a few not so convenient problems. I don't know anyone ever to have the problem you had with any vehicle that is new or used for that matter. I am sorry you ... Read More
1999 Volvo c70 coupe 27 - 240,000 miles - 27 mpg combined
We got one of the first 1999 C70 convertibles in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in January 1999. We loved it and when we learned it would no longer be available later this year, we traded the 1999 in on a nearly identical 2004 (under the theory that it would then last 5 years longer). When looking at convertibles back in 1998 and 1999, what we liked about the Volvo was the ... Read More
We had one of the first '99's to be delivered in our region (took delivery January 1999). Other than a recall on headlight and roof issues, no real problems that I can recall. My wife loved the car so much that when she heard it was going to be discontinued, she wanted to trade up to a 2004 so "her car" would last 5 years longer. I had heard about issues ... Read More
Just looking through edmunds own overviews - New for 1999: This year, buyers of both coupe and convertible models will enjoy standard interior enhancements that include a leather steering wheel, redesigned interior light switches, 130-mph speed limiter, front fender turn indicators and red walnut dash trim in place of last year's black wood. A new 17-inch alloy wheel option is available in 1999 for both coupes and convertibles. The coupe also ... Read More
Yes, I, too, have heard the C70's will be discontinued. It's really a shame, but it will make my '99 C70 convertible even more special! They are a relatively low production item. According to Volvo Cars of North America only 3,269 C70 convertibles were sold in Model Year 1999! Don't have the Coupe figures. I've never understood why Volvo doesn't advertise them more. I still get comments from folks who didn't ... Read More
Now that you mention the antenna wiring, I do recall seeing a TSB on that issue. Pasted below is the info from Edmunds maintenance section on TSB's. I don't know if it might be related to your problem or not, but certainly there was a wiring issue. A bad antenna could cause volume increases/decreases as the signal strength changed. 10.EQUIPMENT:ELECTRIC POWER ACCESSORIES:ANTENNA NHTSA Number: SB610598 Bulletin Number: 3390016 Bulletin Date: MAR ... Hi. First time poster. I own a 1999 C70 and have only put 19500 miles on it. Since buying it new in 2000, I have had the convertible top in to be repaired 6 times. The top sticks and the windows will not go up and the chime keeps going off, even if the top is up. They replaced sensors and microswitches and finally Volvo North America stepped in and "fixed" ... I have owned 7 Volvos since 1976 and currently have a 1999 C70 Coupe. Absolutely no problems with this great car. Probably the best I'm owned. We also have I a 1999 V70. It's been my experience when I have had a problem with my Volvo it's either been solved or made worse by the dealer. Any time I've had a frustrating problem switching dealers has resulted in a solution. The ... Read More
I have a used 1999 white c70 Coupe LT w/Tan Leather and I am in need of some good sound advise regarding repairs and upgrades. I purchased my c70 with 12k miles and paid under 32k w/taxes 8 months ago. I love to drive it! Especially on my daily 90 mile drive to and from work. When I got the car I had the tapping noise problem w/ the sunroof when ... Read More
Hi. I'm new to the list and very impressed with the knowledge and civility of the participants having just reviewed the postings about the Volvo C70 since the beginning of this year. Unless my wife surprises me when we compare the C70 to the Saab 9-5 on the road I expect we'll be C70 owners sometime soon. The car will be used mostly for 2-3 hour highway cruises, but will definitely ... Read More
I was just at a Volvo dealer in Nor Cal, and they are out of stock for C70 coupes...but they have a 1999 C70 HT with 21,000 miles on it. I haven't test driven it or any C70 yet, but I noticed that with the windows down all the way, the door does not close with an authoritative thunk...is this the same for all C70s or a problem on the car? ... I am in the process of buying a convertible for the first time and have my choices down to the C70 and the Saab 9-3. I am leaning towards the C70 due to the styling and the comfortable ride. I felt that the seats were the most comfortable I have ever sat in. I plan on keeping this car a long time so I am concerned about the reliability. My wife ... Read More
Rollie, Thanks for the helpful advise. I Check the Volvo website and contacted Volvo USA Customer Service. They looked into my Audio Upgrade issue for my 1999 c70 and confirmed that SC901 radio is correct upgrade for the existing sc-816 radio. The 1999 c70 comes with 12 (DynAudio) speakers. However, they too were not to sure if a speaker upgrade was required and suggested that I contact a local dealer to ... Read More
I just purchased a used 1999 c70 LT with 12K miles. It came with the Leather & Sun Roof package along with heated seats, STC and Standard audio system. The car is in mint condition. However, my previous car was 1998 s90 (Lease) with all the toys with no heated seats. My issue is the s90 had the premium audio system and the C70 does not. I've checked with my local ... Read More

I have been following the various topics on the Volvo C70 in the dearly departed "Coupes" section. I would like to reopen these discussions. Has anyone test driven the 1999 low pressure C70?
