This is my first Volvo, having owned Toyotas, Subarus and Hondas, and by far this is my favorite car. Solid build, reliable and not too expensive to maintain since online parts are plentiful and cheaper than dealerships - definitely find a private shop and avoid dealerships for repair work. I purchased my 940 car with 147k - it drove so smooth I had to have it. With routine maintenance I expect to drive it for years to come. These cars are hard to come by so if you find a good used one snatch it up!
The seats are so comfortable and make long drives a breeze. The high profile of the car is great too and now when I get into a Japanese car I can't believe how low to the ground they sit. Great cold weather features (heated sideview mirrors and seats.
Cupholders are flimsy and awkwardly placed. The a.c. is so-so. Stock radio was poor and immediately replaced. The power antenna breaks/fails to extend easily so I left it up and disconnected the power to it. No big deal.
