Re: 1997 v 1995 gas... Daughter's first car [richmondva]
Volvo recommends premium for all 850's. You can use lesser fuel, but you will get less performance and worse mileage. Its up to you. Read More...
Stereo replacement 850
I own a 1997 850 s/w. It came with a factory cassette radio. I can exchange it for a Volvo in dash CD player for a couple of hundred dollars. Anyone know if this is the way to go? Also check engine light is on. New O2 sensors and major tune up were done. I also changed the mass air flow sensor. I'm thinking it is a vacuum leak. Comments? (90,000 miles, auto trans, non turbo.) 97 Volvo 850 Wagon
Frederick/Javadoc - Especially interested in your views on the following (anyone else please feel free to chime in too - I appreciate the information): I'm considering buying a 1997 Volvo 850 wagon ("S" model? Probably the base model - 168 hp, no sunroof) from an individual (the current owner). Current owner bought the car from Volvo in 1998; it had apparently ... Read More...
3 kids/3 car seats--v70 or 850 wagon
Anyone have any experience with using 3 car seats in a V70 or 850?? We are considering looking for a 1997 or 1998 to replace our 1989 740, and will need to use 3 car seats soon (#3 due in 4 weeks). I checked our car and 3 car seats seemed to fit ok. Wondered if either of the models we were considering would also work. Also wondered if any experienced parents had any general ... Read More...
My 1995 Volvo 850
I have a turbo sedan with automatic transmission. It came with low-profile tires and 16" rims, which were a disaster. This has been a common problem among lots of manufacturers who sell cars with low-profile tires in the United States, where city streets are often in bad condition. There was a class-action lawsuit against Volvo on the issue (as well as against ... Read More...
Take the Plunge? Vovlo 850
I have recently discovered a fantastic bargain on a 1997 Volvo 850 Sedan - Automatic non-Turbo with 56K miles at a local used car lot for $10K. After checking CARFAX I have discovered that the car was in an accident about a year ago (cannot tell from the exterior). Also, the title was never listed as a FLEET but it was listed/sold at an auction as a FLEET (hmm?). I intend ... Read More...
97 850 GLT Wagon... ??
I've wanted a Volvo for a long time, but other than general "safety/reputation" knowledge, I know very little about them! A Mercedes dealership in town has a 1997 850 GLT Wagon for sale. It has around 68,000 miles and they are asking $14995. Any advice? What should I ask the salespeople? There isn't a Volvo dealership around here for 60 miles...how difficult is ... Read More...
Pleae help
I have a 1997 Volvo 850 GLT Wagon. We truly enjoy this car with a dog and one year old. Ever since the warranty was up at 50K, I firmly believe that a time bomb has went off in this car. Here is a short list of repairs in the past 6 months. Catalytic converter $1065. Air Bag sensor $400. Ventilation blower motor $400. ABS sensor $400. Rear brakes $200. Engine cooling temp ... Volvo 850 SW 1996/1997 AWD Version?
Hi, I have been researching the same model year Volvo wagon (and the '97 year). My father called to tell me that he looked it up in his archive set of Consumer Reports magazine in the April, 2000 volume and he says it is listed as one of their "good buys" in used cars. It also gets good ratings in Edmunds and the safety crash test ratings were very good. I, too, would love ... Read More...
