Love my volvo

Vehicle: 1995 Volvo 850 GLT 4dr Sedan

My Volvo 850 has been a very good first car. It is very comfy, has a really long features list for a car of its age. Love the sound of the inline 5. Has a good amount of power for the non turbo (168hp) I have had the car a little while and the only maintenance that it has needed was the rear brakes needed replacing. I've been getting above average fuel consumption, it's rated at 19 city/ 26 highway and I've been getting 26+ mixed driving. Would love to upgrade to a T-5R or a S70 T5

Vehicle: 1995 Volvo 850 GLT 4dr Sedan

I recently bought this car from Ebay auction for very good price and this car is my first car since 2008. I ran into a lot of problems after 5 years later. oil milage tube leak, shifting gear problem, tramission fluid leak, and so on you name it. but it is going alive. it now 138,000 miles on it. it still alive today.

I purchased this car new in 1995 and drove it for many years before passing it on to my kids. It is a great car for new drivers - not too much horsepower (non-turbo), 4 airbags (first car to have side airbags back in '95, and built like a tank. Tranny went at 120K which was an expensive repair ($2500), but has been very reliable otherwise. Great car if you can find one that has been properly maintained. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, there are great web resources available to help you with troubleshooting.

My first foreign car!

Vehicle: 1995 Volvo 850 GLT 4dr Sedan

I bought my 850 used in October 07. I had never had a foreign car before. My friend and his family swear by Volvo, so I was a least somewhat familiar with them. Considering I only had $4000 to spend, I think this is easily the best car I could have bought for the money. I've had a couple of bulbs burn out and the odometer gear broke, but that is a known issue and not a big deal if you are handy. This are geat cars, but I can't emphasize this enough... do the maintenance! You really cannot let stuff go on these, but if you take good care of them they will last a very, very long time! I see no reason I won't hit 300k with this car.

Love the swedes!

Vehicle: 1995 Volvo 850 GLT 4dr Sedan

Have been driving my Volvo for 1 year. Love it. Not fast, but like the unique style of the Volvo. 1995 was the last year Volvo was privately owned & built in Stockholm, after that, all when down hill with Ford. Look out for PNP switch on the tranny, very common problem, will cause care to start in 3rd gear or not start. $500-700 repair, but otherwise, great care which will run forever with proper maintenance. Why drive a boring Camry or Accord, everyone drives those, get some style!

Unsexy but reliable

Vehicle: 1995 Volvo 850 GLT 4dr Sedan

I received this car as a family hand me down. It is unquestionably the most well-built reliable car I've ever owned. Maintenance is expensive - especially for big ticket items - but in the 5 years and 45,000 miles I've owned it I've put less than $3000 in repairs into it. It's not fast or flashy and I'd like a cooler looking car but I have a hard time justifying a new car when this one keeps on running strong.
