Those darn Swedes (build great cars!)
By Volvonut on
1990 Volvo 740 Turbo 4dr Wagon
We purchased our 745 turbo wagon used
10 yrs & 180000 miles ago. "Sweddie"
now has 235000+ miles & shows no sign
of fatigue. Motor is still strong,
burns <.5 pint of oil every 5K miles. I
bought my wife a newer (1993 945 t)
Volvo, but she loves this '90 too much!
This is without a doubt the best, most
dependable car we have ever owned. We
now have three Volvos-the 740 and 940
are some of the best rear-wheel Volvos
ever built. We are striving for our
300K mile badge and maybe more! Too bad
the new Volvos have slipped a bit in
reliability. Perhaps the new "R" model
will be a turning point...we'll see! TQ
HEATED leather seats that are S-O-O-O
comfortable; SAFETY-like driving in a
tank (only MUCH quicker!); Reliability
is great; fun to drive, ten yrs later!
Bigger gas tanks (only 13 Gal); more
headroom (I'm 6" 2"-it's a little close)
Brakes only last 15-20K; other than
that, don't change a thing!
