I own a Volvo 240DL now with 160,000. It runs very well for the age and
mileage. Reliability has been just slightly better than average because the
water pump, radiator, and MANY other small parts have been replaced.
Thankfully, they've all been cheap repairs. The gas mileage is OK. I was
used to getting almost 35mpg on the highway with my Acclaim, and now I get
about 25mpg on the highway with the Volvo.. Comfort from the seats is
good, but the ergonomics are terrible! Generally slow performance There's
no doubt in my mind this car will last 200,000 miles and beyond, but the body
is suddenly rusting this year and will not last that long.
Comfortable seats, love that classic Volvo styling, will run forever!
Ergonomics need MUCH improvement, better acceleration and handling, as
well as better fuel economy.
