2004 Volkswagen Touareg SUV V8 AWD 4dr SUV (4.2L 8cyl 6A)

Review

This is my family's first VW and it
will be our last!

VW Dealerships will promise you quality
customer service and leave you hanging
with VW of America. (VWOA)

PLEASE READ ALL THE WARNING FROM THE
PEOPLE WHO OWN THIS CAR……visit all the
Touareg problem web sites

Best Features

If I had one day to enjoy the SUV without thinking of how I can get it fixed, I may have found some.

Worst Features

This SUV needs a lot of work, which I can accept, but most of all ….. VW needs a new corporate philosophy on customer service.

Review

If you want a quality, power,
quietness this car is for you...Do not
get the V6, spend the money and get
the V8...overall better return when
you sell the car, and one of the
fastest SUVs on the road...Considered
LexusRX330, what a dog, if you are
over 50 get a LEXUS, if you want great
fun, power and luxury get a V8
Toureg..Also considered InfinitiFX45,
what a bumpy ride, and a cheap build
interior..finally, looked at CAYENNE
V6 (base model), Toureg V8 has double
the option and 15K cheaper...if you
have the money and must get a CAYENNE
than get the Turbo...best car I have
ever owned and drived..job well done
for VW.

Best Features

Sport mode, heated seats, parking assist, XENON lights, interior lightning at night..any many more..

Worst Features

CD changer in the car instead of the trunk, free maintanence like BMW, Benz etc...

2004 Volkswagen Touareg SUV V6 AWD 4dr SUV (3.2L 6cyl 6A)

Review

The V-6 is underpowered when passing
or accelerating on the highway. Gas
mileage is horrific for a 6 cylinder
SUV, undoubtedly due to the vehicle's
weight. The quality and workmanship is
very good. While I'm computer
literate, the navigation system takes
a programmer to operate with each
geographic area of the US on a
separate CD.

Best Features

Solid, safe handling. Have not had any difficulty driving in snow or heavy rain- the Touareg hugs the road superbly.

Worst Features

Better V-6 mileage and power. VW should better name their cars, especially pronouncable ones. Rear seat headrests block sight from inside mirror. Switchblade key cumbersome. Opening doors/hatch takes several attempts. 1st oil change cost $100- Millennium VW in Somerville, NJ.
