2012 Volkswagen Tiguan SE 4dr SUV w/Sunroof, Navigation (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 6A)
Purchased this SE model with FWD after about 5 months on the car hunt. AWD not necessary IMO & saved $2K.
Looked at Hyundai, Nissan, Ford, Toyota even Audi &
The car has good zip, the turbo kicks in when asked, and it rides smooth - suspension can feel a bit stiff though, so you feel some road bumps.
Fit and finish are outstanding as are the ergonomics.
It is very fun to drive, the navigation and audio package is very nice - IMO, no need to bump up to the next level of audio or trim.
The leather-ette interior is very nice; most people think it to be real leather and I like the idea that it will clean up easier since I haul kids.
Overall, very very pleased so far.
Panoramic roof, Bluetooth phone, audio and navigation package, steering wheel control buttons access almost everything, fit and finish, ride comfort, acceleration.
This has been a great experience and very good value for me so far.
My sole complaint - gearing seems very suited for high mileage.
The car gets up to 3rd gear quickly, almost too fast,
and thus can feel boggy and low RPM when around 15 to 25 MPH.
I would prefer some slightly different gear ratios on the lower end to keep RPM a tad higher and the ride feeling less boggy, sluggish.
The good news here is that if you want you can control this with the transmission set to "s" or shift mode and easily do this manually.
As information, I am averaging 25 MPG; mostly suburban commuting miles: 85% city / under 50 miles per hour ; 15% highway / over 65 mph.
Satisfied with the mileage.
