2009 VW Rabbit Changes

Re: Sept 2009 [rv65]

The new Rabbit should also have factory iPod integration via the MDI and the special cable. It shows song info and it integrates the iPod like an iPod. The MDI only works on the RNS-510 but the RCD-510 and RCD-310 both work with it. The RCD-510 is like a non nav RNS-510 with no hard drive and a built in CD changer. The current crop of non nav radios don't support the MDI. ... Read More...

Sept 2009

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=136067 WOLFSBURG, Germany — Volkswagen headquarters has told Inside Line that the all-new sixth-generation GTI and Rabbit will go on sale in the U.S. by early September 2009. The new models start production for North America in late June. European buyers started taking delivery of the new Golf/Rabbit ... Read More...

Re: 2009 VW Rabbit Changes [rv65]

Another change or two to mention. On the 2 door model, the center armrest feature is still not available. The change is that unlike the 2008 model, you can't have the dealer install the center armrest as a dealer-installed feature for 2009. My understanding is that the armrest has an i-pod adapter built in, but only on the 4 door model. The 2 door model has an "audio-input" ... Read More...

08 Rabbit concerns?

May be buying a Rabbit

A two door... I've been all over the map lately, with some very different options. I started out looking at the Infiniti M35. Then I thought about a new Sonata, since the '09 version has a much improved interior. I even considered a Malibu for a while. There is something drawing me to the Rabbit. I like the solidity. I like the simplicity. I really think Volkswagen ... Read More...

Re: 08 Rabbit Issues [crazedcommuter]

I think maintenace costs can be a bit higher, but to worry about maybe $100-200 difference in maintenance costs over 3-5 years, as some seem to do, when you are spending nearly $20K, on a vehicle does seem too logical to me. We have a 2005.5 Jetta (maintenance requirements should be pretty similar to the rabbit) and have done all maintenance at the dealer according ... Read More...

Re: 08 Rabbit concerns? [shipo]

Shipo - Item 1 - You might have me on this one - my info was from the sales staff at the local VW dealership; I had not taken the time to independently verify the 2008 factory spec oil parameters (which appear to be well hidden in the manual - the search continues). The story is - I asked about oil changes re: oil weight and viscosity. The original question went unanswered ... Read More...

Re: 08 Rabbit concerns? [driveinalong]

For the most part I agree with the vast majority of your post, however, I'm thinking "Hmmmmz" regarding the following bit: "Counterpoint - VW is now recommending full synthetic oil changes for all models as of the 2009 model year (not a spec. for my 2008 Rabbit, but I will follow their updated recommendation and use synthetic following the break-in period and ... Re: 08 Rabbit concerns? [muttonjavelin]

I recently found myself asking the same question: Rabbit v. Astra? Both cars have been on sale in Europe for a few years - so new model design issues were not a concern. Both cars received less than optimal engines for their US release (Astra's is heavy and underpowered - Rabbit's is heavy, almost too much power, and can be thirsty if you're prone to spirited driving). ... Volkswagen Rabbit Test Drive Reports

Re: Continuing the resusitation.... [shipo]

"What's this world coming to?" What it's coming to is a realization that BMW has strayed far away from being a great choice for driving enthusiasts. They have sold us out with their stupid iDrive, expensive run-flats and ugly styling. We aren't the only ones. BMW will be taking a big hit on their bottom line-deservedly so. Anyhow, the VW dealer who had the best price ... Read More...
