Used TMV from $11,643
That sounds like a good price with the sunroof and 17"wheels upgrades. When I took the Rabbit to our local VW dealership they told me that we got a really good deal on our VW and that we were fortunate to find a used 2009 with low milage in the area. They said it is hard to find used Rabbit's. I did have to have the iPod feature replaced as it ... Read More
Hmmm. I have a chance to buy a 2009 2 dr auto with 6k miles, sunroof and 17" wheels/tires, alas no iPod, for $13600 plus ttl. Does this sound like a good/fair deal? It is in very good condition but is not VW CPO as it was traded in to a non-VW dealership. Other cars we compared were Hyundai Elantra Touring, Nissan Versa, and Nissan Altima (yes it's more). The Rabbit ... Read More
I said goodbye to my 2007 Rabbit yesterday. It was a great car which I loved to drive, and cost me only gas and insurance during the 8 months I owned it. But my wife has a bad back and it was hard for her to climb in and out of it (although she too liked driving it). Also, we recently sold our minivan and were left with two small cars. ... Read More
a used 2009 VW Rabbit 2 dr Automatic with 10,240 miles for $13,000. It has the ipod upgrade as well (we really like this). Does this seem like a fair price? I hope we got a good deal, we really like the car, it does seem bigger and more solid than most of the compact cars that we looked at.
We just purchased a 2009 2 dr hatchback Rabbit S for $13,000. It only has 10, 240 miles on it. It has the built in ipod upgrade. Does this seem like a pretty good deal? This is our first VW and it is as cute as can be!!!!
Hi, I went to a dealer shop to buy a new 2009 Rabbit. Its side bottom surface is not even. It is very uneven, bumpy and jagged. Is it normal? Why VW makes it this way?
I have a plan to buy a New 2009 VW Rabbit 2.5L S / Automatic model. I got an offer at OTD $13988 from MSRP $18164. Since VW will stop Rabbit next year and change Golf lineup, I am expecting a very good deal at the end of this year and at the end of production. Do you think OTD $14K is a good deal? Thanks.
Hi suzannne. Volkswagen is still providing cash incentives on '09 Jetta leases, but unfortunately is does not have any cash on the '09 Rabbit right now. Car_man Host Prices Paid: Buying & Leasing Experiences Forum
Congrats on your new Rabbit! I did a similar switch back in April, went from a 2005 Jetta GL 2.0 (with AT though) to a 2007 Rabbit 2 door (with AT also). I liked the Jetta, but had it only 3 months before it was totaled. But I made out OK in the switch, as the Rabbit is clearly a better car than my Jetta. As you noted, more power (I ... Read More
Sure has improved (ride, handling, quiet, power) since my last VW Golf, a 2004 4 door 5 speed. Cabin materials and quality are even a little better, but they have always been superb. Engine rpm seem to be 1,000 rpm lower than on the old 2.0. The 2.5 is super smooth, especially compared to the early production run which I test drove when it came out. If I didn't know better, ... I am in Boston, Just start my home work for the 4 dr rabbit, here a recent quote I got, Thanks " 2009 Volkswagen Rabbit - 4Door - Automatic Transmission - Reflex Silver Exterior - Anthracite Interior - Power Sunroof - Rabbit Mat Kit - MSRP: $20,839 *destination included* - December Selling Price: $20,500 *destination included*"
The new Rabbit should also have factory iPod integration via the MDI and the special cable. It shows song info and it integrates the iPod like an iPod. The MDI only works on the RNS-510 but the RCD-510 and RCD-310 both work with it. The RCD-510 is like a non nav RNS-510 with no hard drive and a built in CD changer. The current crop of non nav radios don't support ... Read More
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=136067 WOLFSBURG, Germany — Volkswagen headquarters has told Inside Line that the all-new sixth-generation GTI and Rabbit will go on sale in the U.S. by early September 2009. The new models start production for North America in late June. European buyers started taking delivery of the new Golf/Rabbit last month and will get the GTI next summer.
Another change or two to mention. On the 2 door model, the center armrest feature is still not available. The change is that unlike the 2008 model, you can't have the dealer install the center armrest as a dealer-installed feature for 2009. My understanding is that the armrest has an i-pod adapter built in, but only on the 4 door model. The 2 door model has an "audio-input" installed inside one ... Read More

A two door... I've been all over the map lately, with some very different options. I started out looking at the Infiniti M35. Then I thought about a new Sonata, since the '09 version has a much improved interior. I even considered a Malibu for a while. There is something drawing me to the Rabbit. I like the solidity. I like the simplicity. I really think Volkswagen does interiors nicely. When ... Read More
I think maintenace costs can be a bit higher, but to worry about maybe $100-200 difference in maintenance costs over 3-5 years, as some seem to do, when you are spending nearly $20K, on a vehicle does seem too logical to me. We have a 2005.5 Jetta (maintenance requirements should be pretty similar to the rabbit) and have done all maintenance at the dealer according to the VW schedule and in ... Read More
Shipo - Item 1 - You might have me on this one - my info was from the sales staff at the local VW dealership; I had not taken the time to independently verify the 2008 factory spec oil parameters (which appear to be well hidden in the manual - the search continues). The story is - I asked about oil changes re: oil weight and viscosity. The original question went ... Read More
For the most part I agree with the vast majority of your post, however, I'm thinking "Hmmmmz" regarding the following bit: "Counterpoint - VW is now recommending full synthetic oil changes for all models as of the 2009 model year (not a spec. for my 2008 Rabbit, but I will follow their updated recommendation and use synthetic following the break-in period and first oil change). Full synthetic oil changes will increase ... Read More
I recently found myself asking the same question: Rabbit v. Astra? Both cars have been on sale in Europe for a few years - so new model design issues were not a concern. Both cars received less than optimal engines for their US release (Astra's is heavy and underpowered - Rabbit's is heavy, almost too much power, and can be thirsty if you're prone to spirited driving). Both cars have a ... Read More
"What's this world coming to?" What it's coming to is a realization that BMW has strayed far away from being a great choice for driving enthusiasts. They have sold us out with their stupid iDrive, expensive run-flats and ugly styling. We aren't the only ones. BMW will be taking a big hit on their bottom line-deservedly so. Anyhow, the VW dealer who had the best price wanted to trade with another ... Read More
A year ago I was faced with an almost certain increase in my monthly mileage from 2,000 miles to 3,000 miles, and as such I drove my trusty minivan down to a local Honda dealership and drove a Civic EX 5-Speed. I was impressed. Fast forward a year, a couple of contract changes, and lots of trials and tribulations, and I'm once again faced with the possibility of driving an easy ... Read More
no manual for the 4 door? What goes on in VW's head? Why in God's green earth would they stop offering the manual in the 4 door, or in any model for that matter. I love my 4 door 2007 rabbit.
ESP standard even on the base 2-door? That's a biggie! Any word on the price increase for 2009?
Not too many changes. Some good ones and some weird ones. A big change is the new 3 year warranty with free maintenance. The free service is just 3 oil changes and maybe some other service. Powertrain warranty is the same. MFD aka MFI computer is now standard on 4 door models. Manual no longer available on 4 door models ESP now standard on all models Tornado red is no longer ... hey bro, i understand about wanting a more frugal engine in the bunny, but here are some things you should think about. 1.the 2.5 is a N/a market only engine. this engine can be found nowhere in germany. why? it was built specifically to american tastes, hence the torque. its marketed as the uber city car, and with that much low end, it excels. 2. they did not simply decide to ... with regards to diesels, i dunno how vw's strategy sucks, nissans first diesel is going to be the maxima, and we'll have to wait until 2010 for that, and it certainly won't be economical in every sense of the word. Honda wont be bringing one over until around 2009 and its going to be in accord guise... so you have basically pointed out 2 diesel vehicles that will cost A LOT ... Read More
It's looking pretty certain that a Jetta TDI will be available in the March-May 2008 timeframe. There's no reason why the Rabbit TDI shouldn't go on sale at about the same time. The Jetta TDI is supposed to have a 2.0-liter engine -- I assume the Rabbit will get the same engine and not a new version of the recent 1.9-liter engine. A Jetta wagon is coming soon -- it should ... Read More
