Looking at an 06 4motion
Hey guys, Would appreciate some advice.... I'm looking at a 2006 4motion with low miles (20,000) Certified Pre-Loved and was wondering about any long-term reliability and maintenance issues. I tend to keep my cars for a long time. My previous car (a Ford) lasted for 13 years and over 150,000 miles. I've read through the forum and it seems that earlier vintage ... Read More...
Re: 2004 1.8T GLS 4MOTION PASSAT- Bad Deal [camperman]
I got a chuckle out of your post concerning Bosch electricals. Having owned VWs manufactured in three different decades, I never, NEVER, had that thought cross my mind. The exact opposite was often true where I thought, "Ya know, this car would be great if it weren't for the dang electrical problems!" True in the 1970's, 1980's and 2000's, at least from my perspective. ... Read More...

High Mileage Passat Problem
I am on my 4th VW Passat, this one an awesome wagon. I put about 32,000 miles on the car each year and when I reach 70K big things start to go wrong or wear out but I still have 3 years to pay off the car. This is a big dilemma because each time I trade in the car (usually around 70-80K because expensive problems are right around the corner) I take a large hit due to high mileage ... Read More...
Re: So what is the reason... [mz6greyghost]
I think people make trade-offs. The difference between best in class and worst in class is statistically significant but not actually significant. If a Toyota needs to go to the dealer once every 5 years, and the VW needs to go every 2 or 3 years, its worth it to me to have a more fun to drive car. Considering most Accord owners also can go 5 years without seeing a dealer, ... Read More...

Re: 2000 Volkswagen Passat GLS 4Motion Wagon [dslm09]
You are right. It means "Comfort Coupe." :) Sometimes it is listed as a separate model and sometimes it is considered a trim level of the Passat. Edmunds lists it as a separate model (see link), but further confusing whether it is a Passat or a separate model is this introduction to Edmunds' review at that same link: The 2009 Volkswagen Passat CC is not a Passat for ... thanks, that makes sense. But I've seen something about VW Passat CC, is this something that just describes the model? Read More...
Re: 2000 Volkswagen Passat GLS 4Motion Wagon [dslm09]
CC is almost certainly cruise control (I can't think of anything else it would be). We have a GLX 2000 4motion Passat wagon (that's a higher trim level) that we bought used about 4 years ago and we have really loved it.It's very comfortable and convenient for us and our toddler now, and the drivers seat adjusts nicely to both me and my husband although he is 6'4" and ...
