I've had this car for about 5 months and already cannot afford the up keep!
I paid $4000 for it, and have put about $2000 into it now.
First I had to replace front brake hoses, right and left control arms, then the thermostat went, now I have oil leaking and a major electrical system problem. Never again will I buy another Volkswagen.
The update features it has for being only a 99.
A lot, for as much as people pay for the vehicle, the parts could be a lot better quality.
You buy a 13 year old car, have a few problems with it, and write off the whole brand?
As if any car is still completely reliable at that age?
It's not like any car company is still making the same vehicle they made 13 years ago.
My the way, hoses and thermostats, etc. are considered routine maintenance - they are designed to be replaced from time to time - no matter which manufacturer made the car.
When I buy a 13 year old car, I expect I may have to do a few things to it while I own it - IT'S 13 YEARS OLD!
