I am fairly unfamiliar with car leasing and how it all works. I know the basics but I'm not sure what it all means. I'm interested in getting a lease on a 2011 or 2012 VW Jetta TDI. I really just need to know what kind of deal I can expect to get, ie money down and monthly payment. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hey caneel and creepylights: Every time I read another forum article about VW and Audi electrical "phantoms", I can feel my blood pressure and pulse increase. With all the supposedly wonderful Teutonic engineering that VW and Audi brag about, you would think that they could build systems that don't act in such a bizarre fashion. For a 2011 Jetta to have this issue is completely inexcusable, and for a dealer to ... Read More
Jetta 2011 TDI... since it has gotten colder on the east coast, when I leave my Jetta out at night, the driving lights will turn on at some time during the night. IF I park it in an enclosed garage, they don't. VW Princeton updated the computer, but nothing has changed. Still in need of a mechanic or exorcist.
Hi runbird. I don't believe that Volkswagen is providing lease support on 2011 models any longer. As a result, its leases for them are likely not very attractive. If you really want to lease, I suspect that you will be better off going with an equivalent 2012 model. Volkswagen is providing a $750 dealer cash incentive on this car right now. Thank you for your reply. I have not owned a VW in 10 years and my other current vehicles are Audis. I have never experienced this in my life. Unfortunately, since it was a used car, it did not come with an owner's manual. I plan on purchasing one soon. :) I was not sure if that problem was a defect in the redesigned Jetta. Thank you for your wisdom and ... Read More
One is never EVER supposed to hold the steering-wheel against the "stop" for any reason. This puts excessive load on the power-steering components. This fact is mentioned in the owners-manual of every vehicle I have ever owned. (Asian, German, domestic.... all of them) I believe your 2011 VW has ELECTRIC power-steering. It may be a belt slipping you are hearing.
Hi tradersreward. Volkswagen Credit's November buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36-month lease of a 2012 Jetta Sedan TDI with 15,000 miles per year are .00172 and 58%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its top credit tier. In February 2011, I bought a 2003 VW Jetta w/ a Turbocharged engine. I have reguarly changed the oil and have used synthetic oil. Hi Carrt, Thanks for replying. So I believe that it was the ECM (Electronic Control Module) that was replaced a couple months back that has reduced the severity of the symptoms we're both experiencing. I'm bummed that it still happens because it seems like it should be so simple for them to fix. I have a 2010, I noticed that yours is a 2011. The only reason I mention this is ... Read More

yep...always high quality fuel ...NY metro area....won't pass emissions with check engine light...real dissappointed.....love the car...hate the unforseen expenses....does VW have to charge 4 grand for a poorly designed filter/catalytic converter? will the new one have to replaced in another 80K? really thought I would be driving it for years... doesn't seem to make sense putting that kind of money into it
If your state does not require smog check on diesels, maybe a different exhaust system that boosts power and better mileage. I think CA requires longer than 80k miles. That would ruin my day and give me unpleasant thoughts about VW. Have you always used high quality ULSD? Not all states are fully compliant on the ULSD mandate. The engine must have it.

I purchased a 2010 4dr manual Golf TDI last April. You need to consider this: The extra price for the TDI is NOT simply for the TDI engine. The TDI has much nicer appointments (alloy wheels, larger tires, sporty suspension, better seats, etc.) as well. And when you consider the price of fuel, also realize that the price has been going up for both gas and diesel. My girlfriend has a ... Read More

We VDubers are all in the same boat no matter if you have a new one or and old one. My BRM came with a list of inherent mechanical issues that will keep costing me 3 to 4 time any estimated savings on diesel fuel mpgs compared to reg unleaded. I have had VW's spread out over 50 years and other than a rare 72 super beatle they have all been ... Read More
Not sure what you mean by the tire package. It has the sunroof and satellite radio. Does not have navigation. That sounds like a high price. I bought mine at Hamilton VW in Hamilton NJ. Very easy to deal with.
MNR49 - What options did you get? I just went into a Northern NJ VW dealer (bergen county) and they quoted me $27,685 for a TDI DSG with sunroof and tire package.
I was told by the dealer (and confirmed by the customer service number listed on vw.com) that I only have to change the oil every 10k miles. I'm not sure I would want to do that as I'm in the old school w/ every 3 mo or 3k... since this uses synthetic oil, I'm thinking every 6 months. Like you, I don't drive much as my last car 2000 Saturn only ... Read More
I just purchased a 2011 VW Jetta Sportwagen and I have two complaints for which I would not have thought to ask until I actually started to drive it on different surfaces and weather condition. 1. When using Bluetooth, are friends/relatives complaining you sound like you're in a wind tunnel? Black asphalt I've noticed isn't as bad as the white concret surfaces. 2. When it rains, both driver and passenger side ... Read More
Good Points! Update: 2011 Jetta SE, conv, roof I love having all 3 options! Though, I haven't used the manual mode a lot yet. Your right, I am not sure if you used it all the time if it would wear down any more than just using the S mode or D. Though, it might if you were really rough with it. Now that I have the options, I am not ... Read More
Sam - the 2011 has the same seats (glad VW did not change that). The dash is now made of hard plastic (not uncommon in many cars/trucks), and previously is was a soft touch plastic. While this has been knocked in automotive reviews, how often are you touching the dash each day? I did not check out the Base S model (2.0 engine), but if you want an automatic transmission and ... Hello Tony. Volkswagen Credit's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2011 Jetta Sedan SE with 10,000 miles per year are .00023 and 58%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its top credit tier. As far as what sort of selling price you should negotiate goes, I personally would shoot for around $500 over dealer invoice. You can find this car's exact ... Read More
I am replacing a ten year old Sentra that has been reliable, and mostly trouble free. Out of necessity, I'll be keeping my next car for at least that long. Some good friends recently counseled against the Jetta, or any other Volkswagen product due to the number of problems they had had over the years with their Passat wagon. They purchased it new in 2003 and got rid of it last ... Read More
For me personally, I know that VW Jetta has been a well made car. I have tested, shopped and compared Mazda 3, Corolla, Honda Civic, Chevy Cruze, and many other. Nothing (price)comes close to well equipped bare essential than VW Jetta Model S. Also I always thought that Jetta is higher class than all the car mentioned above anyway. A plus like bvdj84 said, 3 years free service. Though many will say ... Read More
Hi, Looking for a new car and was hoping for some advice. Criteria are 1. Safe 2. Manual 3. Sedan 4. Under 20k. This has led me to the 2011 Jetta, but concerns about the reliability of the Volkswagen brand is a concern. The car I'm replacing is ten years old, and has been reliable, requiring very little maintenance. What led you to the Jetta, and did you have any concerns ... Read More
Hey, guys Back for more advice. Not sure how many of you had this problem but for about 3 hours I had just spend time trying to figure out how to use the aux in car jack that comes with standard S Jetta. The first thing I did was of course open the manual but it keeps referring me back to Navigation Booklet or Radio Booklet, of which both did not ... Read More
