I currently have two Jettas (2007 and 2009). Both have the 2.5 gas engine and Tiptronic 6 speed automatic. Both cars were made in Mexico. My 2009 was purchased new and now has 53,000 miles. I have not had one item go wrong which would have required warranty work at the dealer. This is impressive, as I cannot recall purchasing a new car in recent years that have never had anything ... Hi gagrice, here's the phone number to order those "Mr. Gasket" spacers for the Jetta front springs...1-800-345-4545 they were $5.95 a couple of years ago but $7.95 now...'price creep'....so what else is new? BTW, you still have the link to order that really nice front hood deflector for the Jetta? Thanks for checking...
I have had Bridgestone Blizzaks (4) on my 2000 TDI, '06 TDI, & my wife's '03 Volvo S60 (FWD). Tire Rack is an excellent choice to review your options. There is no substitute for 4 winter tires (my opinion). I live in PA.
Longo, what was the name of that outfit you got the risers for your Jetta? I am thinking of retiring the Lexus to a family member and buying a Golf or Beetle TDI. I would love to get it an inch or so higher. PS The Tire rack is the best source of information on tires.
I can say that the TireRack sould be part of any tire buying decision, the website is full of excellent info and reviews even down to owners specific vehicles. This way you don't have to read reviews about how some tire works great in the winter and then find out that the owner has them on an AWD vehicle. But the one thing that TireRAck has that a lot of shops ... Read More
My 2005 VW Passat TDI Wagon came with Michelin MX something in 17" size. We bought it in Portland Oregon and drove back during the winter. Hit Ice, snow and rain. I thought the tires handled the conditions very well. I was spending half the year driving on ice & snow in the Arctic so maybe I was not the best judge of how they handled. My only complaint was the ... Read More
The Michelin's that come oem with the JSW are probably some of the best rated tires for an all season. I would have absolutely no issues replacing with Michelin MVX-4's. However, nothing substitutes for winter snows. To expect an all seasons tire to perform like dedicated snows is an unrealistic expectation It can also be unsafe. Dedicated Michelin winter snows are probably some of the best rated winter tires also.
I also have a 2009 VW Jetta Wagon with the Michelin MXV tires. I have not experienced the problems you mentioned, but I'm in Florida. Having lived in the Northeast for many years, I can tell you that having 4 snow tires on a car makes a world of difference. I owned a Mercedes CLK convertible that was terrible in the snow. When I put on 4 snows, it handled the ... Read More
Hey- I purchased this 2009 Jetta TDI Sportwagen. The car only has 1800 miles on it and has the original Michelin radial tires. That is absolutely my experience selling vehicles online. I am not a fan of KBB. Never seem to be close to reality. Reality being what you actually get for your vehicle selling it. VW has been busy busy busy decontenting the Jetta since 2006. It's already a stripped down version of it's former self. Are you certain it is the "tiptronic" and not the "DSG" xmission? I understand that the DSG xmission can achive nearly perfect matchup to all driving conditions. I did not even need coil spring compressor to install them - they just slide in, when you hoist the car. Jeg's has a set for front as well P/N 720-1281 but I did not need those after all, after running ... Read More

If you are talking about 2009 VW Jetta TDI, VW NEVER had claimed over 55 mpg EPA . EPA DSG is 29c/40h the very next paragraph that you must have ignored ..."None of these facts are advertised. No problem, bossy22. Thank you for the additional information. OK, so you were quoted a selling price of $19,014 on a 2009 Jetta S that has an MSRP of $19,514. That's a $500 discount. If the selling price that you were quoted is before the deduction of any available incentives, it is a very good deal. However, if the dealer is not backing the $750 cash incentive that is currently available ... Read More
This morning I was at my VW dealer for some minor service on my 2009 Jetta TDI and while waiting, I walked around the lot and noticed that they had a few 2010 Jetta TDI sedans and wagons. What I found interesting was that each one had a second sticker that stated: Los Angeles Market Adjustment - $2,500.00. When I bought my 2009 at the end of June I paid $1,000 ... Read More
Got my 2009 Jetta SE with 2.5 and Tiptronic trans a couple of weeks ago and realize I made a very good purchase decision. Quality build and lots of value for the buck. Gave my daughter my 1999 Jetta Wolfsburg (I'm original owner) w/std trans with 189,000 miles and it looks great and runs great! Here is my question for those of you that know your tiptronic trans: When I preparing ... Read More
Rocky, Your dream Jetta might be on eBay today. All the ones I have seen on the lots have that "Panorama" roof that turns the car into a boiling goldfish bowl in the summer heat. I have read reports of owners trying to devise a way to keep the heat out of the vehicle by fitting a cardboard covered with tinfoil under the glass. One of the differences in the 2010's ... Stevens Creek VW, San Jose CA has two 2010s on the lot. I drove one of them (DSG) - didn't perceive much difference from the 2009, some cosmetic differences is all, nothing that would change my mind one way or another.
I live in Canada and understand the Golf will get a TDI wagon for 2010 and that Jetta wagon disappears. However when I go to the build a car option on the VW. ca website there is no wagon available for either the golf or jetta. The only wagon available is the PASSAT and under TDI the only vehicle listed was a Tiguan. Any tips from the list. Looking around the ... Read More
car_man - your information is great. It's safe to say, we appreciate your work. Regarding VW Credit's lease money factor, is that based on a certain credit rating? I thought VW had an A-tier and B-tier. Do you know what the score cutoff for each is? And does each tier have a different money factor? We are looking at a 2009 Jetta SE. We haven't approached the dealer yet since we ... Read More
Here's what I copied from the article.... The vehicles covered are the Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, GTI, and Eos built between September 2008 and August 2009.
We have noticed brown stains on our 2009 Jetta Sportwagen, Candy White, just below the fuel door. These can only be removed by wet-sanding - which, obviously, is not a long term solution. has anyone else experienced this issue?
I think it really highlights that 2009 TDI Jetta both the sedan and JSW was both a challenging yet goal fulfilling MY. Here are some of the "tools" that I have seen used to move the (diesel) product.
