VW Jetta TDI

Re: transmission [malmouza]

Drove an 09 TDI. Not fond of the DSG or spongy suspension. Wife has DSG in her A3 - worried about signs of wear that we're seeing at 25k miles (lots of clutch slipping). Wish the VW dealer had a TDI wagon 6 MT on the lot as I'd like to know how that car feels to really drive. The sedan isn't really an option as I already view the TDI as a compromise and shortterm car, but the ... Read More...

Re: 09 Jetta tdi test drive [malmouza]

prove what I said before. In 2006 VW lost 160 billion euros You have not proven anything. Where is your link that claims VW lost 160 Billion Euros? That much would bankrupt any car maker. That is almost twice what Toyota is worth. Read More...

Re: 09 Jetta tdi test drive [serniter]

Sorry to prove you’re wrong again, the financial data on that link just prove what I said before. In 2006 VW lost 160 billion euros, today they are achieving 3.43 billions euro. Do you see what I see? How long will it take for VW to make up for the lost money? Have you been investing money on the market or you just read the headlines? Another thing that you do not know about ... Read More...

Re: 09 Jetta tdi test drive [gagrice]

I think you're wrong, I am talking about the operation in USA not in Europe or Japan where these two manufacturers operate as there own home of origin. Bellow is a link that will show you that VW need to do more to be profitable for once they need to educate their dealers, they are arrogant et they don’t know how to deal with the customer; and that is the biggest problem ... Re: 09 Jetta tdi test drive [malmouza]

you will need to keep driving that car for 16 years before you get all your money back. I just picked this as an example of the error in your post. I bought a 2005 Passat TDI in April 2005 when diesel was more than gas up in Portland Oregon. I sold it in San Diego in May of 2006 for $3000 more than I paid for it new. That point being the diesel will hold its value better than the ... Read More...

Re: 09 Jetta tdi test drive [sebring95]

I agree with you analogy, but I am looking at the data in the past 5 years. The difference in price between diesel and gasoline is widening every year. It is true that the value of Jetta diesel went to the roof, and we all know the reason is the conversion kit that people they buy for about $3000 to make their car run on biodiesel or vegetable oil. But even now in some part ... Read More...

Re: 09 Jetta tdi test drive [jkinzel]

I suggest contacting and negotiating with dealers via Internet and email only. In this manner you are usually dealing with only the sales manager or Internet sales manager, thus bypassing the lot lizards. VW of America and Canada web site has a tool that helps you locate vehicles you want, so you do not have to go fishing all over your region. I bought the exact 2006 ... Read More...

Jetta Transmission Issues and Questions

Re: 2006 Jetta rough shifting [terrifico]

Hi, I have a 2005.5 New Jetta 2.5 Automatic and I had the same problem, it started at about 9,500 miles and was only a hard shift from 1 to 2 gear and got worse where it was hard shifting from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 so at about 14,000 I started having the dealer look at it at first they said it was the control box and that needed to be replaced, took it in and they did that, and the problem ... Re: Trouble with TDI? [kc1435]

A5 Volkswagen Jetta TDI 2005.5, 2006 clutch failure. On Nov 1 2007, VWoA issued Tech Bulletin 2016615. This extends the warranty on Sachs clutch components to 4 yrs/50,000 miles. Copy of Tech Bulletin here: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/images/pdf/vw_tb_30-07-01.pdf Recently had my 06 TDI clutch go at 16,585 miles. Dealer couldn't find this Tech Bulletin ... Read More...

Canadian City Jetta

Re: Canadian CITY JETTA good idea??? [inhaliburton]

Sadly, no TDi for the "City" lineup. I was told (in 2006) they were committed to the City cars for three years so that explains why, I suppose - they were awaiting the updated diesel motor. Funnily enough, if you look at the VW Canada sales statistics (see www.pocketrocket.ca), the Mk4 City Golf is the biggest seller - with the Mk5 Matrix-Rabbit and the Mk5 Corolla-Jetta ...
