Vehicle2005 Volkswagen Jetta New 2.5 4dr Sedan (2.5L 5cyl 5M)
ReviewThis could be a great car if it did not require some much time in the repair shop. This time it broke down, because a tumbler in the ignition switch failed. Therefore requiring a seven to ten day stay in the repair shop. They advised me that the part would have to come from Germany. Before purchasing any of the VW products sit in the service department and listen to the customer! Please! I implore you!
Best FeaturesExcellent gas mileage and sporty drive! However, I have a great relationship with the service department! Always in the repair shop and the repairs are costly!
Worst FeaturesBetter craftsmanship and engineering. Too many small failing components i.e airbag harness wiring, trunk latch, taillight failures, and peeling accessory control covers, failing radiator fan.Quality of parts must improve!

Completely agree. I also had the tumbler in my ignition go, which took over a week to repair. In the last three months alone, I've had to fix the electrical system-- short wire was causing the alarm to go off for no reason and I couldn't turn it off and the windows wouldn't open. Then the check engine light turned on. Fixed that, $900 and 3 weeks later it was on again. The clock has never worked. The radio controls are peeling. Rear view mirror broke. Radio doesn't work properly. Upholstery is peeling off the ceiling. The only nice thing I can say is that the car does handle well---when it's not in the shop.Report it
