This vehicle has been a big headache. There is CONSTANTLY SOMETHING going wrong with it. Every automatic window in the car has broken down (there is an issue with the design of their window regulators). Small problem, but at $300 each to fix them, it becomes a major problem. The strips of trim on the doors fall off often. We replaced one less than 6 months ago that has already fallen off again. On a 1996 vehicle, they have all been replaced at least once. We have experienced too many electrical glitches to name. All small problems, but they amount to big hassles. Forget the nice looks of the Jetta. It's not worth it.
You can't beat the looks of the Jetta.
I like the sunroof, and my 6'4" husband likes that he has plenty of room in the Jetta.
