I've owned cars that cost $20K more than this GTI.
Yet none of them were more refined, fun to drive, or as well executed as this car.
The moment I took a test drive I was sold.
The fun factor, the way it handles, the performance, the amazing build quality, the steering wheel and pedals, and the incredible DSG gearbox that has to be driven to be believed (it changes gears in 1/10th of a sec and is faster AND more economical than the slightly lighter and cheaper stick shift).
I think this is one of the best value cars out there, even the base model is generously equipped.
It's the most fun car I've owned in a very long time, really loving it so far.
The DSG gearbox is amazing, just incredible.
Smooth fast changing, always in the right gear.
The sport mode option is very fun.
The paddle shifters are also very solid.
The best feature overall though is the build quality.
It feels in every way like a much more expensive German car.
When compared to other cars in this segment, it's hard to believe the way it feels for the same money.
The bluetooth voice recognition is pretty amazing and easy to use.
It's also fun, if that's a feature!
When you drive normally, it's a sensible car; easy to live with.
Give it some right foot, and it takes off, but in a well mannered, fun and predictable way.
In this day and age, I'm not a fan of having to buy premium gas.
It gets very good economy, easily hitting the EPA published figures.
But that economy is somewhat negated by having to use premium.
I get that it's a turbo, but it would be nice if they could fix that.
The multifunction display could be a shade easier to use.
Holding a rocker switch for three seconds to activate the main menu is not the most intuitive design in the world.
In my opinion if you have to find the answer on Google, the design is too complicated!
