There is a site called 'VW Vortex' that has links to all sorts of good VW sites. Other retailers like 'ECS' have decent prices.

Written by: maristella on Nov 16, 2008 8:35:37 AM

I was looking for a fun car and had a great experience at Jim Ellis VW of Marietta, GA. Has luxury pkg.,clean title, 23k miles, 3y/36k mi. ext. warranty and paid 19800 OTD. Love the moonson radio, will get ipod connector installed. Any suggestions on where to get VW accesories cheaper than dealer, like a bra, spoiler?

  • BOUGHT 2008 GTI

Written by: goose on May 1, 2008 9:07:57 PM

Woot, I just traded in my 2006 Honda EX coupe automatic for a red 2008 GTI auto. Back in 2005 I was one of the first people in southern AZ to have the 2006 coupe. It was a great car and was a significant improvement from the 1996 Civic I last owned. I loved the new 2 tier instrument panel too. The only missing thing was the navigation system. Moving forward ... Read More

BTW, I've been driving Audis for about 10 years now. We have more in common than meets the eye... My combined experience with VW/Audi products is over 25 years (Scirocco, GTI, Audi 80, two Jettas, Passat) - as an owner and former mechanic. I keep a VAG-COM diagnostic toolkit on hand for troubleshooting my current 3 VWs (1997 Jetta, 2003 Wolfsburg Jetta 1.8T, and 2003 Passat GLS 1.8T). My VAG-COM kit ... Read More

Hello. I am a very proud owner of a 2005 1.8T GTI (5-speed). I currently have 20000 miles on my car and have been a stickler for oil changes (VW 502.00) at 5000 mile intervals. But I am going to be taking a road trip across the u.s. and was thinking about putting about 6000 highway miles in the car. basically, i am going to be driving to california from connecticut ... "if the focus or mazda 3 accomplished what they do using a torsion beam, than i'm sure you wouldn't complain. there is no denying the purity of the type r philosophy." According to Brit magazines, the better Civic Europeans dream of is the multi-link-rear sport sedan privately imported from Japan! MkV's Control Blades really improved the MkIV GTI. Hello guys. I own a 2005 1.8T GTI. While I love my car, I just happenned to test drive a 2006 2.0T GTI. These two cars, IMO, cant even be put on the same page. The 2.0T is that much better. Do any of you know by how much, if at all, the 2007 2.0T GTIs suspension has been lowered by? I know the 2006 had it suspension raised to adhere ... Read More

Post 645 was very fair and balanced. I am currently looking to buy one of these three cars to complement my Subaru Legacy wagon as I want to have a fun car. I did have a MkIV Golf when I lived in the UK several years ago and it was reliable but dull to drive. I am currently steering towards the GTi at the moment (but this can easily change as ... 2 Gas mileage is WAY better than the 4 cylinder Accord which gives EPA ratings of 23(city) and 34(highway) but gets way under (18-19 city). Not really sure where you pulled those numbers from. A manual Accord has EPA numbers of 26/34, an Automatic has 24/34. I've never achieved under 26 MPG in my Accord (I4 Automatic), and I don't drive only freeway (usually on a suburban commute into Birmingham, Alabama ... Read More

Seriously, Ford appreciates your blind devotion to its poor man's Japanese brand. Face the facts, Mazda's "brand appeal" is weak. They wish they could be VW. Meanwhile, VW continues to set the bar for near-luxury, bang for the buck style and performance. Last I looked, VW is NOT doing so good. Their new products are not selling, except for the new Passat. I believe we have been talking about the new 2.0T FSI engine on the mkV GTI's... For a four cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged engine, 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque are performance numbers. There aren't that many cars running four bangers that can hustle to 60 in 6.7 seconds (ok, so the srt4, evo, and sti are freaks). Sure there are lots of v6 and v8 engines with more hp ... Read More

Hi roundie. Yes, Volkswagen's lease program on the 2005 Golf GTI is fairly attractive this month. VW is using a money factor of .00038, which is equivalent to an interest rate of less than 1%, to arrive at this payment. Furthermore, Volkswagen is providing a $500 bonus on leases of this car through VW Credit this month. I suspect that if you shop around a little bit you will be able ... Read More

I am pretty certain that refers to the 2005.5/2006 Mk4 GTI - the 1.8T model which is being sold until the Mk5 arrives early next year. Same is true for the old 2l normally aspirated engine. It would have been too costly for VW to re-certify these engines for all states, given the low sales volume of the Golf in general, and of an outgoing model, in particular. The 2.0TFSI is ...
