2004 Volkswagen GTI Hatchback VR6 2dr Hatchback (2.8L 6cyl 6M)

Review

More power than I expected, especially
in the 3000-5000 RPM range. Build
quality is very good for the price.
Added a K&N air filter, a nice
noticeable upgrade for less than
$50.00, + tons of other aftermarket
stuff available. Couldn't justify $10K
more for the R32, the VR6 has plenty of
torque and the handling is very solid,
even without the AWD.

Best Features

Smooth powerful engine with a tight 6- speed. The 17" wheels are sweet! Unique european bodystyle.

Worst Features

The stereo compared to my Touareg is pretty weak. The cupholders need a redesign.

2004 Volkswagen GTI Hatchback VR6 2dr Hatchback (2.8L 6cyl 6M)

Review

What an awesome car to drive. I have
always been into Volkswagens, and if
you cant afford the new R32 GTi then
the next best thing would be the VR6,
but the 1.8T is just as much fun!

Best Features

Everything about this car is my favorite feature.

Worst Features

None.

2004 Volkswagen GTI Hatchback VR6 2dr Hatchback (2.8L 6cyl 6M)

Review

There is no substitute for a fully
equipped GTI. While the R32 is a
little much for most drivers, the Vr6
offers the experienced driver power
and comfort, while showing taste and
refinement missing from Japanese and
American sport hatchbacks. This car is
most certainly not a toy, and is
absolutely inappropriate for a first
car. This car gives incredible
feedback, and a driver must have
enough experience to be able to
interpret what the car is telling him
to operate this one safely. Having
owned each previous version of the
GTI, I can say that this is decidedly
familiar, yet greatly improved.
Drivers of MkIII VW's who miss the
hard sporty suspension of last
generation will LOVE this car.

Best Features

Auto Dimming Mirror Leather Seats (Absolutely Essential) Vr6 Engine Sunroof Wheels 6 Speed Gearbox Instant street credibility-nothing to prove. Everyone knows the GTI.

Worst Features

None. Perfectly balanced for a daily driver with the ability to gallop for a bit of fun.

2004 Volkswagen GTI Hatchback 1.8T 2dr Hatchback (1.8L 4cyl Turbo 5M)

Review

My choice of an everyday
driver/sportcar. Compared to Japanese
cars (celica, civic si) this car
actually has a little torque. Very
solid and fun to drive.
