Car is very fun to drive, and has not
presented me with any major problems
what so ever. Engine is great to
modify, with an engine chip, manual
boost controller, diverter valve, and
exhaust the car is quicker than most
you'll see on the road. Plenty of
aftermarket syling and suspension
options as well.

2002 GTI bought in Nov 01. Very excited
to get this car. Definately fun to
drive, 5 speed, 1.8T, sweeeet. 25000
miles on my Indigo Blue baby.
Irritating things: Can't keep Indigo
clean! Bird poop damages paint, cheap
rubber coating on interior door handles
peeling, rear speaker quit, center
console latch broke, louvre under
passenger headlight fell out, headlight
replaced, replaced each window
regulator at least three times, check
engine light four times. By now I've
owned the car 2 1/2 years and have had
it at the dealer at least 10 times for
problems above. All relatively minor
problems but what a pain in the keester.

Great all around sport compact.
factory upgrades like none other, BBS
rims, TT brakes, 6 spd, recaros,
lowered sports suspension, ect... I
love the car I hate the company VWOA
and thier coilpack issues, unhelper
customer service and bad dealerships
have killed my VW experience next time
I'll by an Audi and get the real
service.

The 1.8T is fun to drive and I haven't
done any modifications. My biggest
gripe/problem is the car is seeing the
dealership more than the road now!
Check engine light has came on 3 times
over the last 3 months...and it's on
again. This is my second VW and I
don't think there will be a 3rd. They
say they only get better and learn from
the consumer...but i guess I'm tired of
being the test market on my account.
Coil pack issue, plastic window clips,
air bag sensor light...what's next?

this is my 6th new VW
and through the last three model runs
mk2, jetta3 and now Golf GTI IV the
improvement is outstanding not to
mention the extra room and the refined
interior and ergonomics,quality of trim
and details like heated seats and
traction control make this vehicle a
class in its own. Only issues have been
the ignition coil recall which I was
able to crawl the car to the dealer and
a loaner and immediate one day repair
where provided,also pwer window mech
failed but also was repaired on the spot
maintenance has been 3 $50 services
and so far 2 years into it that is all
other than gas that Ihave invested in
this vehicle

Yes, I know at first glance some may
not be attracted to the styling of this
vehicle. It has put up with some tough
nicknames as such as "golf putter"
and "rollerskate"... However, this car
is an awesome car to own in all
aspects. The power, performance,
reliability, and even safety are
excellent. I would recommend this car
to anyone... especially in stick!!! NO
DRIVERS NEEDED!!!!!!!!

This has been a great little car,
despite a few minor problems(ignition
coils, window brackets, radio
replacement, & dash lights.) All of
which were taken care of by the dealer.
It is very functional, alot of room to
haul people or cargo. Great handling,
traction in snow, wet, & dry
conditions. Decent MPG for the
performance numbers. Safety and
security features are of a caliber
usually found on higher end vehicles.
Improved warranty is also a plus.
