2000 Volkswagen GTI GLS 1.8T Turbo 2dr Hatchback

Review

Basically flawless. What a great little car with surprising amount of room. Amazes others with it's quality feel and performance. Like so many of the car mags have said, "feels like a car costing $10,000 more." and "rivals BMW for it's fit and finish." Embarrasses it's competition for safety, amenities, fit and finish, standard equipment, and the like. The VW GTI is simply hard to beat.

Favorite Features

Wonderful 1.8T engine. What a gem, smooth power just above idle to the redline. No waiting for the power to build like in the GTI's competition, and none of the lawnmower like thrashing noises of those Japanese cars either. Oh, and of course the blue/red interior lights!

Suggested Improvements

Should come with higher performance tires for the car that defined the segment. Brake pads that produce less brake dust. Car is vault like quiet except the door seals tend to squeak from time to time, especially when cold. Different door seals would cure that tiny annoyance.
