2011 Volkswagen Golf TDI 4dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl Turbodiesel 6AM)

Review

I traded in an Audi A4 which was costing $$$ at the pump w only 22 mpg. I previously had a VW diesel and longed for its combo of power and efficiency that the Audi was unblanced on. VW makes a great car. Design is well above the rest of the class with clean lines and a very plush interior for the price. Puzzling, though, is VW"s decision to disable features in the software that were previously there such as comfort closing windows, coming home lights, etc that just take a check of a box in the system. How much $$ can you save by just not checking a box? That said, mpg's are great, passing power is there, utility is there, and it looks nice. Hard to complain.

Favorite Features

Great mpg's, DSG transmission is smooth in acceleration, hatchback utility, heated seats are fast and warm, 500+ miles on a tank easy where my Audi topped out at 300 with a bigger tank. The interior isn't Volvo minimalist, but simple and clean with quality materials and construction. New MkVI design is quieter and stiffer than MkV by a longshot.

Suggested Improvements

Bluetooth phone is a bit hiccup-y with erratic volume adjustments and sketchy signal. Starts out very quiet which forces you to up the volume then scares the crap out of you with a deafening beep at the end of a call. Factory sound (not Dynaudio) needs lots of volume to sound decent, requiring constant fiddling. Interface is glitchy and slow but otherwise functional. Needs more storage space in armrest/console. DSG transmission can stutter at low speeds trying to find the right gear for your throttle input but its still better than a manual for me.
