Re: One Sweet TDI set up [rcarr7]

TMV (true market value) is an elusive number when you are dealing with VW on a TDI. Right now they pretty much have this diesel car market all to themselves. I know there are a couple of other options, but all upscale' from the Jetta, Golf and Beetle. It's a market that is ripe for Ford, (they already have a couple of great little diesels in Europe), Honda, if they want ... Read More...

Toyota Prius vs VW Golf TDI

Re: C4C's impact on diesel sales [backy]

I think you are trying to play verbal games which is fine. But I don't see any data that says Toyota will build anything in their Tupelo plant in 2011. All I see is it is on hold. June 10, 2009 Toyota broke ground on the $1.3 billion Tupelo plant in 2006 to produce Highlander crossovers. Last summer the automaker delayed the project and then later changed plans to produce ... Re: The conclusion [dewey]

Oh yes and did I forget to mention that the Prius has the highest ownership satisfaction among all cars. If you look to your right you will see the 2010 Prius and the current customer rating. It has gone down. Prius topped out in customer satisfaction with the 2006 MY. While the only current VW in the same class the Jetta TDI has gone above the Prius in customer satisfaction. ... Re: 2005 VW Golf GL [_lennox_]

Get a diesel! You get more zip, 40-50 mpg, and it will run on biodiesel (even treated used ff grease). Best to get 2005 1/2 (first half of 2006 before the ultra-low sulfur engine). I installed a HHO system in mine and although the fuel mileage is the same I have a RACE CAR! The engine will last forever and it purrs very quietly. The exhaust doesn't stink like the inefficient ... Read More...

2010 VW Golf

Re: . [thammer62]

You must not be reading the same Consumer Reports I am. Consumer Reports only has reliability ratings for one year of the Golf diesel--2002--which rates it as average (open circle, no red) overall, same for engine major, solid black (much worse than average) for engine minor, solid red (much better than average) for engine cooling. There's more data for more ... Read More...

Considering a Diesel Rabbit...I mean Golf...

We had a diesel Rabbit back when... Anyway, I am thinking of "trading in" my 2006 Chevy Uplander minivan for a diesel Golf, maybe a 2003? As soon as I can scrounge up a used Chevy Astro van (mine died and I couldn't get another right away) I would like to ditch the new minivan and get a diesel VW. It's been a long time since I've driven a VW, and hubby is leery of anything ... Read More...

Re: Back in Canada for an encore: The (City) Golf. [gregs]

The City Golf is a great deal for sure, at least from a price perspective. I priced one out on vw.ca and, fully equipped with everything except alloys/sunroof, it is about $4000 less than a similarly equipped 2006 Golf from last year. I was seriously considering trading my 2006 Corolla, until I browsed through this forum. Almost every Golf post concerns reliability ... Read More...

Back in Canada for an encore: The (City) Golf.

VW Canada has decided to bring back the Golf, and sell it along side the Rabbit. The rather amazing thing is that the soon to be available City Golf will sell for $3,600 (Canadian) less than it did in 2006, although it is substantially the same car. There will also be a City Jetta, also reduced in price. Read More...

Volkswagen GTI Lease Questions

Re: 2006 Golf GLS 4 door Leases [vwvw1]

Hello vwvw1. If you were to lease a 2006 Volkswagen Golf GLS 2.0L through VW Credit right now for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year, its buy rate lease money factor and residual value should be .00077 and 53%, respectively. This car's 12,000 miles per year residual value would be 2% higher and its 10,000 mile per year residual would be 3% higher (than the 15K residual). ... Read More...

2006 Volkswagen Golf/Rabbit

Re: OMG! [nippononly]

According to the best information I could scrounge up: 1. 2 door is 14,990 plus destination so your number is about right. Comes with pw, pdl, remote, pm, aircon, cd. Pretty well equipped. Also should come with VW's great "tip up" front seats for easier access to the rear. If you want an idea of the front seat room, rear seat room, or trunk space, check out the 2006 ... Read More...
