Horrible
Vehicle
2006 Volkswagen Golf GLS TDI 4dr Hatchback (1.9L 4cyl Turbodiesel 5A)
Review
it is the ugliest car that I have ever had. It rides horribly, and it falls apart easily. I have never had a car this bad.
Favorite Features
I do not like anything at all about it.
Suggested Improvements
Just throw it out and make a better car.

Awesome German Egineering
Vehicle
2006 Volkswagen Golf GLS TDI 4dr Hatchback (1.9L 4cyl Turbodiesel 5A)
Review
This is my second Golf, my fourth VW, and my first TDI. I love it so much for its good fuel economy. My wife traded her Bettle Convertible for the new Jetta TDI (VW #5).
Favorite Features
I love the good fuel economy and time proven engineering.
Suggested Improvements
A solar powered fan in the vent system to cycle air through the car and reduce green house effects in summer heat would be neat.
Don't understand the Hybrid Hoopla

Review
Since I purchased my diesel Golf, I have driven 10,000 miles and my miliage has improved from 40/48 to 42/48. I get 600 miles to the tank of fuel on the highway. The only problem to date is a plugged water line for the rear wiper/washer. The cruise contol is ackward to use.
Favorite Features
The power of the engine is incredible and the car will maintain accurate speed up and down hills with the cruise engaged.
Suggested Improvements
I wish it had the multifunction steering wheel of the Jetta and the 4- Motion option that is available in Europe. I also wish they still offered it in the wagon version. In Europe they also offer a TDI / GTI.

Best MPG for the Buck
Vehicle
2006 Volkswagen Golf GLS TDI 4dr Hatchback (1.9L 4cyl Turbodiesel 5A)
Review
The buzz surrounding hybrid gas / electric vehicles shamefully ignores the major maintenance expence of a replacement battery for the drive train. Forgetting about the maintenance cost of hybrid vehicles, if you take into account the fact that they usually get less than their stated gas mileage consumers should avoid them. Ask anyone if they get the stated MPG from a hybrid, they don't. Then ask a diesel driver, and they all will report at times getting much better than their vehicle's stated gas mileage. Don't forget that diesels cost $4-5K less up front than hybrids - that has gotta' still mean something. I forgot to mention that CO2 emissions are 25% less from diesel. Regular gasoline is more dirty than diesel fuel.
Favorite Features
The power, iPod compatibility, Audi / VW engine sound, great gas mileage, and low maintenance cost.
Suggested Improvements
Diesels all suffer in 0-10 minute cabin heating needs. Get some electric suplimental heating for instant cabin heat.
