Engine Performance- Optional 6.0L V8 is strong on paper but not the segment leader. Calibration of throttle, power delivery could be better

Transmission Performance- 4 speed transmission not up to snuff anymore when competition offers 5 or 6 gears. Reluctant to downshift too.
8.0 / 10 Brake Performance- Firm pedal, decent stopping distance, reasonable modulation is a first for a GM truck

Off-road Performance- Stiff chassis never let us down off-road. Very capable. Approach angle limited by low front valance.

7.0 / 10 Fun-to-Drive- Neither exciting nor awful to drive. Instead, it drives pleasantly for a utility vehicle

9.0 / 10 Ride Comfort- Very compliant ride for a pickup. Stiff chassis and well tuned dampers keep freeway chop to a minimum.

Front Seat Comfort/Space/Access- Outstanding seat comfort, easy ingress, and plenty of space make this a great place to be

9.0 / 10 Driving Position- An example of how to do it right. The only way to improve it would be to replace the adjustable pedals with a telescoping wheel

9.0 / 10 Instrument Panel Layout- Great big legible gauges are excellent. Numbers on the secondary gauges are welcome too.

8.0 / 10 Audio System Layout- Big buttons and volume knob work well. Blue text not so great.
7.0 / 10 Secondary Control Layout- We're still not crazy about the multifunctional "GM stalk" but controls are otherwise easily operated
8.0 / 10 Interior Storage- A variety of bins and and nooks work well; dual glovebox is rather small and fiddly
7.0 / 10 Truck Bed Space & Features- Small crew cab bed still manages to be useful. Our tester is bare bones--no bedliner or cargo management

7.0 / 10 Exterior Design- Some say "traditional," some say "dated." It's not offensive, at least.
8.0 / 10 Interior Design- Conservative look works well here.
9.0 / 10 Interior Materials- Lots of high quality material selections inside. Limited gloss is good, though fake chrome needs to go.
8.0 / 10 Interior Control Tactile Feel- Smooth, grit-free operation and low effort.
8.0 / 10 Squeaks & Rattles- Tight and quiet in our longtermer so far
8.0 / 10 Panel Fitment & Gaps- Gaps are well controlled, especially compared to outgoing model.
