Ford F-Series Transmission Problems

Re: 2006 F150 transmission noise [ford_f]

I would change the transmission fluid asap. Check and see if their are metal shavings in the pan and filter. This would tell if the bands and clutches are bad. Also if their is shavings in the fluid this is going to compound the damage to the transmission . Some times just changing old and burnt transmission oil will cure a lot of problems. Also check your rear differential ... Read More...

Re: 2006 F150 transmission noise [patsea2]

I believe I'm experiencing the same problem as the previous posts. I have an automatic 2004 Ford F150 Lariat with 25,000 miles on it that I recently purchased. While driving it today I heard a noise that sounded like I was dragging something underneath it--think shopping cart or exhaust system. I pulled over and everything appeared fine. The noise didn't return ... Read More...

Ford F-150 Owners

Re: Want to Buy a 2006 Ford F150 8cyl 5.4 L engine [fradelva]

I'm a mechanic and while all manufacturers have their problems with certain models, I haven't heard any on your year. There have been some complaints of the head gaskets leaking on the 99-01 F150, but the numbers to me are not significant enough. Fuel pumps have a tendancy to go bad early if the fuel tank is below a 1/4 tank of gas all the time. Remember, the fuel in ... Read More...

Hi, Can anyone please give me any heads up on purchasing this Ford Truck, I have had my eye on it for awhile but was told the the Ford F150 has much trouble with the engine and tranny. The truck has 48,000 miles on it and the dealer is giving me 6 months warranty on the engine and tranny. I like the body because it has a really big bed which is what i need and the truck looks ... "Fuel injection purge" ...scam?

I have a 2006 F150. I went for an oil change, oil filter and tire rotation yesterday (15,000 miles). Dealer recommended a fuel injection purge (Wynn's) in addition to oil change etc. Cost: Additional $110.00.. Dealer said Ford recommended it. I couldn't find this recommendation on the Ford website or anywhere else. Is this a scam? Brianna Read More...

Re: Here ya go... [kcram]

I'm sure there are a number of viable theories about the dynamics of the latest LD pick-up sales figures. The Tundra increase, while a large number, is based on an already low sales rate compared to the Chevrolet, Dodge, and Ford versions and may only mean that Toyota loyalists are responding to a much more attractive alternative, something they didn't have before ...
