What's New for 2005

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. Engine Significant Problems A common problem on this vehicle is failure of the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor, and occasional problems are failures of the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Failure of the CKP Sensor will result in the vehicle not starting. Failure of the TPS, for the 2.5L engine, will cause the vehicle to not accelerate. The TPS is part of the Throttle Body and failure of the TPS requires the Throttle Body to be replaced. The cost to repair the CKP Sensor is estimated at $29.13 for parts and $26.00 for labor. The cost to repair the TPS is estimated at $593.42 for parts and $58.50 for labor. All prices are estimates based on $65.00 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax.
