Hyundai Accent Real World MPG

Re: Hyundai Accent: Real World MPG [trendmonger]

Trendmonger you make it sound like a government conspiracy and they lied to you about your Hyundai's gas mileage. Keep in mind all the EPA does is test the vehicles in a similar manner on the same test conditions. The results should be relative to each vehicle so if vehicle one gets 20 and vehicle two gets 30, then some drivers might get 10 on vehicle one and 15 on vehicle ... Read More...

Re: wife's 08 Accent [litesong1]

I own three hyundais. 2 Accents (2002 and 2005) and a new Entourage (2007). Great value cars. The 2002 had engine warranty work done at 85,000 miles and they only charged me $15 on a $2000 bill. MPG may be a bit lower than a Vibe, Yaris or Fit but it would take years to recoup the difference. My five speed gets a solid 32 - 37 mpg depending on city/highway and my daughters ... Read More...

2005 Accent GLS Hatchback MPG

I was surprised reading so many complaints about MPG. Although, I whine about mine but that's because my '94 Hyundai Excel got 42 IN TOWN, and that's just hard to beat. I bought my Accent with 25K on it & right off the bat I was getting 37 MPG in town - and I live in the mountains & have a brutal hill to climb going home. I have had trouble with the car - finally found out the ... Read More...

Re: Hyundai Accent: Real World MPG [backy]

The revised EPA FE estimates for the Accent AT are 24/33. Yeah I guess this is all governmental stuff already which juts further. Plain and simple you can't trust Big Business or Goverment. Yes my wife's trip has some idle time but whose CTY trip does not have idle time. As far as I know every CTY I have ever visited has lights and stop signs where vehicles stop. Maybe ... Read More...

Re: Will new IIHS scores change your buying decision? [backy]

They crash their cars too, and probably knew in 2005 what the results would be. That's disgusting for an auto company to do. For over a year Hyundai portrayed the Accent to unsuspecting buyers to be one of the safest cars in its class, yet knew of its serious shortcomings and still didn't attempt to fix them. How anyone could have faith in the brand is beyond me. Also, ... Read More...

Re: Hyundia VS, Toyota [come on]!!!!! [brettes23]

Tell you what: I owned 95 accent which I bought for $1100 in 2003. Never broke, no major problems at all. Sold in 2005 for $900. How about that depreciation? Now I owe 2002 Sonata which I bought in 2005 for $7000. No problems so far (the milage went from 63000 to 80000). So, from used car buyer point of view, Hyundai is the BEST deal you can get. And reliability is equal ... Read More...

HUGE drops in sales for Accent, Sonata, Elantra, Tiburon, and Tuscon

TOP losers: Accent down a record 59%! Sonata down 13% Elantra down 30%! "September sales totaled 33,384, down 13 percent compared with September 2005 due to limited availability of all-new Accents and Elantras. Plant slowdowns this summer in Korea and strong worldwide demand for these vehicles contributed to this situation." Suuure. Because people are ... Read More...

Re: 2007 Hyundai Hatch and 2007 Toyota Yaris Lift [tjw1308]

I see that since you can't make a case for the Yaris, other than it has a very good chance to be reliable and it has excellent fuel economy, you turn back to your same-old attacks on Hyundai in general. How about backing up your arguments with some facts, as I and others have done? Your attempts to extricate yourself from your errors of fact used to be amusing; now they ... Read More...
