Ford Explorer Starting and Stalling Issues

Re: 2006 Stalling Explorer [aarchdale]

I have been experiencing this since Fall of 2007. Just got it back from the dealer after they had it 2 days and found nothing. It stalled. I have kept a log of mileage, date, speed, weather conditions. The only common thread is that it always happens at 30 to 35 mph and while not accelerating. And it starts right up after stalling. Ford consumer relations cannot help. ... Read More...

Ford Explorer Transmission Questions

Excellent dealer service, problem gone!

My 2006 Explorer V8 has exhibited some slight 1-2 upshift and downshift problems since it was new, but they were too slight for me to botehr taking it in for service. I now have 34,600 miles on it, and the problem (occasionally feeling like being hit from behind on some stops, occasional jerky take-off from stops) had worsened, so I took it to Santa Margarita Ford. ... 2005 Ford Explorer with soaked carpet

2005 Ford Explorer with soaked carpet

A few days ago we had some pretty bad weather and a couple of days after the rain had passed I went to work and noticed a mildew like smell inside my 2k5 Ford Explorer. I looked around and found wet carpet under the passenger side floor mat and also right between the back seat and my third row. After some brain strorming on how it could've happened I noticed that the only ... Read More...

Ford Explorer radio won't work after fire!

The Jumper cables caught on fire while on my 2005 Explorer. Since then the radio, cd and digital clock display does not work. We have checked the fuses and they are okay. Any suggestions before I spend a fortune at the dealership? Thanks Read More...

Re: Gear shift lever broken-Ford Expl 2002 -please help ! [bn3757]

Hi Beth, paul7281 here. I was told by the Ford Parts Dealer at Hilltop Ford in San Pablo, Calif. That this part #5L2Z-3C529-A, was ford's upgrade to the 05' Ford Explorer, Ford installed in the latter part of 2005 replacing part #4L2Z-3C529-DA, Ford installed in Ford's Explorer from 2000 up to the early part of 2005?. No I've not seen any technical service bulletins, ... Read More...

Ford Explorer Seats

Re: 2006 EXplorer [bnewt5]

I have an 05 Expedition with the same issue. Both front seat covers were replace at 9k miles, just today one of the rear seat backs went bad. Leather cracks off, blue fabric underneath shows through. Car has 16k miles on it now, and probably 3 people or fewer have ever been in the back seats (meaning middle row). Ford has taken care of all three seats so far. No complaint ... Read More...

advantrak light coming on

I was just wondering if anyone who owns a Ford Explorer 2005 and newer is having problems with their Advantrak. My almost since day 1 has stopped working intermittently and the light comes on saying check advantrak, advantrak off but the button says its on. I have brought my car in atleast 7-9 times for this problem and all they do is reset the computer and say there ... Read More...

Re: Front End Clunk when turning at slow speeds [dlinna]

I have the same problem with my 2005 explorer (along with many others!) I have taken it in for this problem at least twice if not three times. They all tell me that "clunking is normal". We are currently in contact with Ford itself who also told us that clunking is normal. I DO NOT in any way, shape pr form think that the noise I hear while backing up slowly is normal. It ... Happy customer

I am now on my 4th Explorer, a 2005 with 22000 miles on it and just wanted to say that I have been extremely pleased with all of them and the support that Ford extends. My only concern with the current 2005 model is that on occasion I get a very musty order from the AC and then it goes away. Dealership gets rid of it but it returns approx 10000 miles later. Still, I am a very ... Read More...

Re: 2005 Explorer, Poor Gas Mileage [jetranger430]

Chuck, If you're still around can you provide an update? I have a 2005 Ford Explorer XLT that I bought new last October. I have only 16,000 miles on the vehicle and this is the problems i've had so far: 1. A/C whistles through the line at random 2. Transmission is sluggish on cold start 3. Power Locks started going on and off, clicking like crazy while driving home (happened ... Read More...
